Well, the track as a whole is weird. That was the idea.

Out of tune.

It's out of tune and the sound design needs a lot of work man. It sounds extremely preset-ish.

Posted by TranceElevation on Dec-01-2013 18:37:

Which sound exactly sounds preset-ish cause I made all the sounds.

Of course at the end everything is going to finish as a preset when I/you store it.

Posted by UrbanNinja on Dec-01-2013 19:39:

Alright this one's for EVO8

How does it sound now?

This just ain't working at all, and considering your other wip was built up in under an hour, I would just bin this.

Starts off really well but the bass isn't quite sitting right for me. Not sure if you need to compress it a little more or even just turn it down a db?

Thanks man, I have factory compression settings for the side chained bass, I will look for better settings when i find some and I have no treatment. I'm swamped with bills matey!

I meant they seem cheap/thin. They lack richness or any character.

Posted by UrbanNinja on Dec-02-2013 01:39:

Alright Andy, hows the bass now? I improved the kick, added chorus, detune, and strict compression settings, pretty much alchemic sorcery!

Ah ok, got it.

Well, the fact that I didn't even care for it being out of tune pretty much tells how much I cared about that track.
I use it to test some new plugins mainly.

It does sound better, and the acid sound fits in better with it as well. Sounding good

Wish you would leave the old one up though makes it easier to compare the changes

Right On, I lowered the acid lead to a couple decibels, surprised you caught that. Yeah i should have somehow left the original WIP to compare matey! hRhRhR

Nice sounding track, very old school reminds me a lot Veracocha. Mix sounds good.

Any thoughts on the mix of this?

Seriously uplifting mate, great sound. Like the little melodic ideas. Just one of those tracks that I can instantly imagine on a tv show of teens clubbing in the Med.

track is ok but at this stage i would just finish it and move on to something else
ime the longer you spend working on a mixdown the less satisfying the end result is

Not really my thing so can't say a lot. Great mix though can never fault you for that, and the 2nd break is cool as it builds up with the vocal delay verb fx.

Here's an update, added a little more. Might actually finish this if I can get the breakdown done and sounding ok.

hmmm theres something missing from this, the whole track sounds a bit highpassed, the bass isnt really standing out - is it possible to download this WIP??

The track is great and the mixdown REALLY works but as evo8 said it, i would try to move out of the mixing area and get something really done. If you are really trying just to polish on your technical execution then its totally different. But even though you would just trying the technical mambo jambo, when you'r stuck whit just one track it doesn't get you much far. Change the track and change the dynamics!

Great uplifting piece! The mid/sub base could have more going on (low vise) if you just push the sidechain. But same happens whit the kick, could be just soundcloud messing it up though so cant really tell.

Cool tune

i like the fx and background sounds a lot

for me the kick is working great, but the bass isn't working. I would say replace it. I think the bass needs to be more interesting/layered and perhaps could move about a bit too

like the sizzling rides, nice

imo of course

Hi guys

This is a collab, and vocals still pretty raw etc. The instrumental still needs work too

Im really trying to look at the arrangement and the song more than anything ATM.

Bit unsure about the arrangement ATM. Once weve sorted it we will rerecord vocals and produce it/ mix it down proper

Thanks

C

I like the vocals , not sure they need re - recording mate? Sometimes I don't always want everything ultra polished.

Nice easy going vibe. Personally this sort of track just rolls along, I don't think it needs any kind of spectacular arrangement, just variation and perhaps a couple of breaks.

Love that tom in the beat, you must not remove that as it makes the track grove very well.

This kind of track me and my Brother will play in the car when riding up to London, just nodding along but do give it a bit of silky killer bass to really make it shine. Bring in the bass after quite a while as this track you can get away with that and the tension and release would be real nice.

Don't really know if this helps.

Always loved those 3 am Rhodes sounds mate.
