Lira's Mum works the red balls

Not as much as the Poles, who are able to throw their balls the furthest. I saw it in the Olympics

No thats Piran, one of our few coastal cities and one of the oldest as well A striking contrast to the pics you posted i think Brasilia looks good and very colourful, but even though im a huge high tech geek im more attracted by these crowded old town than shiny brand new ones

They don't fool me no more. When I met my girlfriend, I thought she was 18 (because she could drive, otherwise I would have thought she was 16), yet she was 24. Funnily enough, she also thought I was around 16 and guessed 18 because I could also drive. I was 20

You're familiar with this right

From a European frame of reference this looks absolutely nightmarish. I don't know much about brazilian history, It's a developing country obviously, how do they treat historical cities there? I'm interested.

Looks like a lovely place to spend one's summer vacation

Actually, the degrading infrastructure notwithstanding, the city is a pretty darn good place to live. Everything is well organised, and the city design follows a series of predictable patterns, so you can easily know where to park/go even if you've never been to a corner of the city before. The only two complaints I have are related to transportation: due to (I believe) the poor instruction of city workers, the tarmac looks like it was produced by a Swiss cheese factory, and buses/the metro haven't been able to keep up with the populational growth.

I've been to London and loads of Japanese cities (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, you name it) in recent years, and I'm yet to find a city that, excluding the problem I pointed out above, comes close to being such an awesome place to live.

Edit: Actually, I wouldn't mind it if they moved the city a tad bit to the South. I want snow

Haha, yeah! Actually, there's this woman at the gym who really scares the hell out of me. She must be in her forties, but she looks well into her twenties, and she's definitely got a body to match. She's the only woman I've ever seen doing anti-gravitational push-ups there (I've recently started doing it as well... so much fun ).

How are anti-grav push-ups done? With the cloth hanging from the ceiling-thing?

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Aug-24-2012 23:20:

Lira's so ripped, when he does a push-up, it's technically a push-down, as the Earth beneath him is shoved out of orbit to the extent of his arms. That's how anti-gravitational his push-ups are.

Hey, I wasn't questioning the practicality of it all. Just pointing out what a huge contrast there is between this and your average European city, like the one moongoose posted. Are there still many sites like that in Brazil or are they getting torn down to make room for more apartment complexes? Which is not uncommon in booming countries.

i'm just amazed at how fast they are growing (as cliche as that sounds)

Your children are beautiful, cliche as that might be, I don't think it trite in the least. They'll be older than you are in no time!

Oh sorry. I meant anti-grav crunches (those push ups with the cloths are demanding as hell... 10 of those are enough to nearly kill me ). She/We put our feet in between some bars on the walls of the gym, and do the crunches without touching the ground.

And I'm far from being ripped... but that's the goal

Ah, got it. Sorry, I thought you said it looked disorganised

There's still plenty of room left, actually, and that's just the "heart" of the city (where I happen to live anyway). The urban sprawl extends for about 60 kilometres, depending on the area, and there are some places which are yet to be occupied.

Besides, they can't bulldoze anything around here because of some stupid deal with Unesco.

Some pics from this morning, taken with a 300mm prime lens. Certainly not ideal for macro photography, but I sort of like how they came out, especially the first one.
