Caleb - sounding very commercial and yes thats the bass sound I hear often so well done.
That lead (the second synth I hear) - some notes really jump out at me so I think it could use some taming.

thanks for the suggestions on the hats richard, definitely needed that i think
also added some trident eq (love that) on the master and few fx thingys

@caleb - yes the technical side is important, i found that when my production/mixing skills increased i was able to implement my ideas better - just be careful not to get too bogged down on the technical side and lose sight of the overall picture

I'd like a copy of this if poss mate.

Another suggestion if you don't mind. The kick is not quite embedded enough (for my taste anyway). I would suggest you run it through a room / space reverb, then remove some lows, then turn that into a smaple and layer it with the existing kick (which may as a result have to be slightly quieter perhaps). Make sure you get the right verb as this can make a critical difference. I'd use a convolution type - and really fuck about with the settings.

The image I have in mind when making techno kicks is that of some subterreanean dance basement a bit like the first 'dungeon' room in SAW 1. Helps me feel my way better.

Did you make the bass yourself? It's as good a techno bass as is possible.

STEWART - that synth from 3 mins is not distinctive nor dirty enough for this track.
Bass is a bit dry and souless. Maybe make a copy that has some roomy dirty automated verb on some of the notes to inject propa flava!
A now and again spoken voice stab with masses of verb and delay would really lift this you know.

Stewart- Yogo --> I like how it sounds, reminds me of Dj Rolando - Jaguar a bit. What needs some work is the mixdown, hats are too loud/need more variety, snare should be different and needs more volume. Bass is a little muddy too, should be easy to make this a great track.

Caleb --->Sounds neat, not very big difference with the common beatport releases but i don't like this kind of tracks nor i like yours sorry this electrohouse genre sounds very cheap to me but i like the last seconds when you bring up a melody.

Evo8----> Very good track indeed, maybe the kick needs a bit of clip, but sounds raw and industrial as i love it.

Posted by evo8 on Apr-26-2013 14:09:

i listened to this last night and i dont think the kick was loud enough so brought it up a bit
interesting suggestion on the kick richard but i think ill leave it as is or ill end up tweaking it forever
the bass is quite simple, just 2 layers from trilian, thanks for the comments everyone i will upload the full track later this eve to my soundcloud page so you can download if you want

EDIT - updated again Saturday.
Drums tamed a bit, other synth lines added.

Any thoughts on a break - I don't know what I want to do.

thats really nice man - for a break i would keep it simple, do something with the vocals, like little snips delayed and some nice pads or something
I find that if the track is good enough before the break it doesnt really matter what the break is like as long as its not stupid

Cool tune! like the style. Nice Percs!

i think it could be a bit thin between around 1k - 3k. Perhaps you could add another mid bass type layer above the sub, dunno if it would work just a suggestion - or maybe a pad or another perc layer to sit there? IMO of course

Rally nice - love the new synths you added and i think vocals sound way better

great atmosphere

I may be wrong but i think the sub isn't coming through quite enough, o quite consistent enough for a dnb track

Maybe some big minor 7th chords for the break, nice chilled filtered down chords?

Heres an early WIP

Very rough

Not much detail either

Not sure about the break maybe not the right feel for this track?

Any thoughts welcome

i love the first couple of minutes, that synth is really nice and gritty, very nice

This is a cool thread. TBH I figured that it would die a miserable death within the first few pages, but you guys have done a great job keeping it on track. [/OT blabber]

Thanks mate. I think your right it maybe goes off track after the first couple of mins - not really liking that bit so much.

Any more takers?

Bloomin nice this, mins me of cold blue's style. Get some cool counter melos and layers comming into that lead and your set. Maybe some accoustic sounding lead layers comming in such as a melodically played flutish thang.

Got it man, appreciate, for some reason my connection is wired today lol.

Going back to your track - got some cool energy and drive in it already and from my perspective you need to have some addition of melodic part in it to get this WIP much more interesting - but I like where you going with it mate.

Here we go guys just WIP of my newest/latest work - not too much FX added yet but melodically should be already there.

Darek

I enjoyed this very nice imo quite a melancholy sound !

I really like the breakbeat type beats in the intro!

Nice melodies and beats

Sounds quite polished i think

Like you say could benefit from some fx.high end detail/ whooshes etc, especially at 0.49 where a nice big white noise whoosh might work

I personally feel you could high pass some of the elements apart from the sub to give it more room, as i feel its getting a bit muddy down there

I think you could increase the highpass on the pads up to about 200 hz, at the mo theres pads down as far as about 80 hz according to digicheck

Maybe compress the bass a bit harder, and pay the bass a bit more attention?

Like it

Awesome as always, love the retro feel to the drums & synth. The hats seem too artificial for my taste though.
