ok so i wont open the filter as much when the drop comes in but was it ok in the breakdown? im doing the env with the mouse so its tricky.

i will cut some of the bass not alot but just a touch.

i will scrap the clap and sort a new one thanx for the info

At the end, where you just rose the octave on your bass sounds pretty weird. The pads could be also tighter and the high frequencies are little out of place.

Composition vise it does better.

Your other track sounds really clean. I kinda like it. Sounds lil bit empty and relays much on the lead.

Any problems with mix? I think I have pretty cool lead synth idea for this track.

Good points by Matt (Storyteller) about Bass and kick - also this pluck which is use from 0:42 could use some additional layer or modulation on it for more sound dynamics impact - overall really like what I'm hearing

my point is that the lead is too loud - use the volume fader first, then maybe eq - use your ears

Atmosphere sounds good Juan and I think you made an improvement on incorporating some more melodic elements and backing pads matching in key. Keep working at it, try to get it to sound even more defined.

My first track I made since I got Bitwig... Attempting to a kinda atmospheric 909 techno track utilizing alot of rhythmic elements.

EDIT:

Thanks for the feedback AlphaStarred, I got a few ideas to make the track less repetitive percussion wise and overall. Going to add some spice to the peak energy section. Uploaded a new version with some flow issues fixed.

Hey All,

comin back with this track as it is nearly completed. I did some major overhauling on the EQ end and as Richard B. says it took the "fried egg" feel out of it. I think..
Added some bass in areas but I am having an issue with the initial bass at 00:51 sec. When that saw hits it seems as if it is out of tune, but when the sub comes in it seems to work itself out. Not sure
As well, any thoughts on the build leading to the drop...I am not sure I am vibing on that drop at all (even think my sub kick is out of place.

now that is sounding cool near were the bass drops though the vox gets tidius but might just be me.

the bass does seem to need more or it could be my speakers!

great work though

Nice...sounds very cool!
for constructive sense, I would have liked to hear a bit more percussive work from 1:00 on. Something variating the progression. High hats perhaps?

Posted by Getafix on Sep-10-2014 18:35:

Glad you like it! Yeah i'm definitely gonna work on percussion some more. I usually write the whole track then once i have a rough draft i add the smaller details. Thanks for listening!

Posted by evo8 on Sep-10-2014 19:26:

remember the thread rules please - not seeing much feedback been given here!

Just had a listen & i dig the melodies & synths but there's something off about the bassline? I'm listening on headphones so it's hard to tell. It sounds better in the second half though. Maybe it's the notes or the timing or the sound itself. I know this isn't very helpful!

it is not my style so i will keep it simple.

the deeper voice vocal sounds crazy loud compared to the rest of the track(i do have headphones on atm)

i like the sound design and its a very clear mix.

the paning though throws it out of the groove for me.

if i was danceing it would kill the mood a bit but like i said its not my style but its growing on me

that said its catchy to the point im gonna be singin the vocals all damn night now...

nice work!

one .. two.. dundna damn it!

Posted by Evolve140 on Sep-10-2014 22:52:

thanks, I have been messing with the vocals to land them in the mix right, panning wise I am experimenting a big so making it a little more basic and safe might benefit the track. feeling about 90% done with the groove but it needs one last final touch to make it really chug like I want it to.

Man, you lot are a tough crowd. This WIP is fucking wicked - one of the better ones in this entire thread. I love this sort of prog (yes, maybe I love prog from a couple of years ago but if it aint broke (and let;s face it, a lot of recent "prog" is very broke) then don't fix it).

I love the vibe on this one. It's summery prog without being obvious or contrived. Good work Domesty!

Love the start of this but i feel that perhaps you got a bit lazy with the bassline in the second half
you have a nice approach though, looking forward to hearing more of your stuff!

not bad - main criticism is that the bass sound is so wide and loud that it is drowning things out a little and kinda makes the track hard to listen to, for me anyway

Hey Evo, curious when I ask this but what kind of monitors are you listening it through.

Usually on SM9s - however in this case im in work so just my ipod headphones :P - but even on these that mid-bass is too dominating for me

i do that quite a bit for my own tracks, ill listen on my macbook speakers/headphones and see how the mix sounds minus sub-bass - good way to see if anything in the mix is poking out excessively or just swamped altogether

edit: its more how wide that mid-bass is, maybe if it was narrower it might fit better

Ah Gotcha! No, Thanks for the feedback,I really do respect your opinion.
I would tend to agree with you on the bass. I do the same and try to listen to my tracks on almost any piece of gear I can.
In this instance however, it is sorta a "bass" track.
As well, to be quite frank, I also listen to tracks in the car which I have loaded with 2 12' JL-Audio 12W7's. Although these are beasts and can take it (and yes, I also realize that the ordinary joe only listens on their computer/ipod )I actually feel very underwhelmed when listening to this track in my car.
I also enlisted a friend of mine who does nothing but bass tracks himself and he felt underwhelmed as well.
I guess I am truly curious to which direction to take it. Today, it is true...majority listen to highly compressed music on their computer, streaming or ipod. I guess I am going to have to conform to that standard /sigh

Oh..and when you mean mid bass, are you referring to the sub or the saw?

Quite like this one, I think you are right in saying it needs another little groove addition just finish off the sense of chugging.
Like the old school character and timing of the synths and stabs.

Posted by Storyteller on Sep-11-2014 14:23:

Ironically I can see that track work well with a proper big room kick . It sounds nice, but indeed needs something to make that groove work better.

Hey guys, any thoughts of this track before a finish it....

thanks
