I was trying to be helpful.

I suppose I could've been more helpful by directing our young friend to the proper forum.

Sweet, when did Indian drums (tabla) become oriental?

It is considered as such loosely, just like sometimes East Indians are called Asians... that path along history, the Silk Road... is all tied into the "allure" and "mystique" of the so-called Orient. India is considered a part of Asia, and although the Orient usually refers more to the "Far East" like China, I think it's alright ;D
