Posted by Yan on May-26-2004 03:18:

Both.

My favorite song is vocal chill-out, though.

Conjure One - Centre of the Sun (Solar Stone's Chilled Out Remix)

Global Communication - 14:31 (more ambient than chillout but OWNAGE)

Posted by meneedit on May-26-2004 03:53:

Behold, my arse.

Get back on topic!!!!!

oops you did.. sorry toronto

Posted by torontotrance on May-26-2004 03:57:

I listen to a wide variety of chillout (ambient/downtempo and chillout)

Zen Connection Volume 1 CD 2 was ace in terms of chillout

I'd hark Zen Connection Volume 2 CD 2 but I have not finished that review.

Posted by meneedit on May-26-2004 04:09:

toronto, im surprised I havent asked you about your faves in the past...

because you do reviews and stuff you must know the best music right?

Posted by torontotrance on May-26-2004 04:20:

i review what I get sent whether it is good or not....that's my decision...gotta listen to everything

pork recordings has some cool downtempo stuff (pork 103 was the bomb) with track 6 by some swedish duo (now single cuz one guy took a hiatus) called Blende. The track reminds me of the thievery corp before they went boring as fuck.

Nah with i:Vibes.nu, I saw that people were not pushing music I liked, so when I joined, I pushed music I wanted to push. I made up the chillout stuff section (well not a section yet) because of people who ask me the question that you are asking. THe problem is that too many people just want watered down trance music

Ambient, find a label called councilofnine, they have 4 releases but all are AMAZING...the guy is also writing a dj diary (check for that anyway...female dj's writing...got 6 so far>..sorry about the hype but I figure that if I do something spectucular..then I will hype it..cuz it deserves hype...unlike art's song hypes that usually suck more dick that a gay pornstar)
Ulrich Schnauss is working on album #3, I'll have a feature called what's new with ulrich, he was too busy to write a dj diary.
Biosphere from what I hear is on another album, he was supposed to do an interview but has not got the questions back to me yet...been months. He works slower than a snail and it takes him yrs to complete albums.

what else

Global Communication's 76:14 album is genius...find it
Higher Intelligence Agency's Polar Sequences..it was a gig he did with biosphere in tromso on top of a mountain complete with wind noises (i heard it the cd from a friend, now the rat bastard lost it and i never got a chance to perm. borrow the sob)

Zen Connection 1 and 2 were ace (tho some of it is too eastern and foreign for some ears...it is global chilllout)...available from oneworldmusic australia

Pete Namlook is overlooked....the man is the king of ambient techno but his releases are ltd collector items...find what you can, he has 70+ aliases and at least 300 releases...FAX label out of germany

i hope this helps and I'm just a music addict like the rest of you...I ain't an expert..I just listen to what I like and tell others what I like and hope they enjoy it as much as I do

Posted by LinX on May-26-2004 04:22:

i pretty much like both. it totally depends on my mood

Posted by ziddy on May-26-2004 06:24:

both.. For a few years ago I would say non-vocal, but after I've heard the tracks from the Blank and Jones relax CD I changed my opinion. Those Pet Shop Boys vocals really fits that kind of music. Take forexample "Love comes quickly"

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! (Ben Kingsley impersonation)

TOTALLY... hail Middleton and Pritchard! BTW, you also noticed the more-than-subtle "tribute" to Tangerine Dream on there right (I hope it's not just my imagination)?

No, ATB also did a track called 'sunburn'; its on his first album 'movin melodies'...

Posted by Hanki on May-26-2004 14:01:

I prefer the Vocal Chill-Out definetely! I like to lay in my bed while listening to this kind of music with some vocals, especially women's vocals of course!

Posted by sandstorm03 on May-26-2004 14:04:

someone should make a thread atb vs avb, battle of the gimps...

ps who cares, if its vocal or not, as long as its good (n)(n)

Posted by meneedit on May-27-2004 00:28:

that cant possibly be everybody though....

keep em comin'

Posted by smokeape on May-27-2004 00:38:

Vocal with no hesitation...
