probspot comments...
when i heard probspot - foreplay, i absolutely loved it...but now that i'm hearing all his other tunes...they all sound the same! he doesn't seem to have any diversity at all in his production style. Its always a held bassline line and a high pitched stabby synth. I think his ideas are great, but he has to expand new horizons instead of copying his previous works.
i agree that there simliar sounding, but either way this guy is a genius
and i love his tunes. and it would be interesting to see what else he could do with regards to new ideas, he will do with time anyway
he is trying to establish a "sound"... i don't think all of his songs will be like this forever... really like "foreplay" and his remix of "jump the next train"

The most overrated producer of 2004.
He started off decent enough but he's been cashing in on the same idea ever since.
The first one I heard was Blueberry, but after that, everything I listened to by him sounded really similiar, I know I couldn't do any better, but I agree, he might want to work on diversifying his sound a little bit, rather then using the same formula for his tracks.
Same recycled sounds over and over and over .. the only original work of his I've heard is 'Flexure', which I haven't really heard any infos on.
yep all sound the same
the 12 with rico soarez- tv dinner/timeless was good.
but yea, same bassline always and nothing new really
his best tune is TV Dinner definetly
thats a masterpiece but i dont know he better change his sounds etc etc
out!

Definitely overrated. Blueberry was awesome, after that he's gradually turning into the Envio of GDJB prog. Also, I noticed that his entire style seems to be based on Bug - So What (Commie Remix).
same applies to Ozgur Can imo
I think oyu guys nare all being too harsh at hte moment.

I just think he makes great music, he's not that long in the bussiness yet, so he will learn other stuff, and if he does it will be great music... I just know
too early for me to REALLY judge,
but i've loved his stuff til now....
interested to see HOW he's gonna
alter his sound tho

there's too much hype around all of these producers atm. Due to the way music is changing, we're getting an awful lot of tracks from everyone and quality is lost with a lack of new features/ideas. It will be important for them to move on with the sounds as has been said, and some of them won't be able to, only time will show who can/cannot. All i'm hoping for is less of the '2004' sounds in 2005

Armin hasn't really been compelled to change his sound since 2002, and the close association of ASOT with the American Prog movement makes me skeptical that anyone involved will feel the need to artistically evolve. Probspot, Ozgur Can, even Schulz and Learma & Moor seem to be trending that way. |

Ozgur has a distinct style that you can identify, but that doesn't mean all his tunes sound the same.
Probspot isn't bad though, not heard that many of his tunes but what I've heard is nice. I didn't like Foreplay that much because of that cheesy-sounding synth that comes in sounding like some 80's tv show, but the beat and bass and other synths are nice and warm.
I hope these producers do evolve a bit, especially Ozgur because he's already so prolific, he needs to keep evolving to keep his productions interesting...

I mean, compare that to what, say, Marco V has done in the last year: C:\del*.mp3, Solarize, the Bang Bang bootleg, Automanual. Much more dynamic. |
well, im not sure if he is trying to establish a new sound because if you listen to bug - so what (dj commie remix) from 2000, check out teh bassline and overall song, it sounds like probspot, except 4 years ago
