Elude - Nudawn (Luke Terry's Downtempo Mix)

my website designer asked me to do a loop for my new site which will be up and running soon, so i'm told heh! this was the result, well a bit of it is, so i just made it into a little chill kinda tune.

Elude - Nudawn (Luke Terry's Downtempo Mix)

enjoy!

good work luke

Posted by ronk on Apr-09-2005 16:39:

nice chilly one liked it.

Very nice Luke! I have a couple of pointers though...

There's a problem when you use the reversed percussion as it sounds like it skips at the end of the bar. Maybe if you cut it off a fraction earlier it would sound a bit nicer. Also the kick roll (?) at 58 seconds doesn't go with the rest of the downtempo tune in my opinion; it sounds more like an uptempo style feature. Ah well, I guess that one is just opinion...

On the plus side; everything else. Percs are great, strings are great, chimey type melody sounds great.

Posted by alanzo on Apr-09-2005 17:33:

dig the funky percs..

sweet reverse.. but yeah, it does sort of stop for 1/10 of a second

when the strings come in, it takes away the funkyness the percs had.. when the percs came in, i was expecting a techno/house track.. but now it's trance..

Nice bells and such.. but where's the kick?

Might be a decent track to start out a set with.. but 2 mins into it and still no kick.. driving me nuts with anticipation!

Ok.. no kick at all.. interesting.. i guess that works

Posted by alexpea on Apr-09-2005 18:53:

Cool percs! Though the transitions when you reverse the percs are not so good... Pads are really nice. Class

Posted by Digital Aura on Apr-09-2005 18:57:

WHOA> the pads kick my butt!! And the bells are such a sweet plus!! Love the reverb choice on 'em. They sit so nicely!!

I, too, expected a kick to come in. You should make a non-chill version and put a good bassline to this too! Oh man...as good as this is, it makes you want to hear it again with a kick and a bassline riff/hook!

Although he did say it was a website loop so... it's PERFECT for that!

Nice work man!

Posted by Luke Terry on Apr-09-2005 19:06:

cheers, the reverse perc is slightly out but if u sit it in, the notes go out over it so can't really win nevermind.

there is only a 30s section wiht no reverse being used on the site tho so its all good heh.

once upon a time we posted the original, elude - redawn on here, many moons ago. i have just completely my 2005 rework of it but i can't post it on here, just yet anyways

Posted by BeeJay on Apr-09-2005 23:08:

fucking nice, really I love it!

Hey Luke

Nice beginning here, percs are pretty mint, reverse part needs some attention yeh. Pretty warm sounds the strings have. The lower string (bass actually) is pretty dull, maybe it attracts too much attention for how basic it is.. put it back a bit or put a slight phaser on it or so just to phatten is. I liked the sound when it fades with that low pass, maybe just put a low pass on it to push it back a tad.

Peaceful tune, you won't have problems finishing this nicely i presume

-Jay

Hey there Luke,

Listening to your track right now. I really love the bass. It pulsates nicely and is rather warm. But on headphones it does irritate slightly, maybe EQ it a bit less bassy

I love the stringpads and choice of melody, it gives the track an emotional feel.

Nothing else to add. Really liked listening to the track mate!

Cheers,

Nomen Nescio

I've got it.

But what I'm really after is the version of Purgatory with the breaks section...

Posted by david.michael on Apr-12-2005 19:12:

I thought it was great... I'm keeping it.

I also have the original to this, and I LOVE it. I listen to it multiple times a week (seriously).

+1 on this comment though:

i'm listening to this again: Elude - Nudawn (Luke Terry Remix)

from 2003, i think. i forgot how good it was.. one of the best melodies i've ever heard around here.

Posted by alaskan dreamer on Apr-12-2005 23:00:

checking now lol it conned me in to thinking hey is this going to be a funky house track at the start with the percussion .oh the strings are massive here and the hypnotic bleeps just grab ya and take you on the journey , this could be very useful as a set starter ,deffinateky uplifts the soul and mind ,in my opinion ,Simple but Effective stuff man ,really n-joyed it ,give yourself a shiny

was 2002, production was fairly decent apart from the bass too if i remember heh

the new version retains the same melodies like, need my bloody monitors back to finish it off tho

glad every1 seems to like this apart from the perc error

here u can check it out in action, play with the buttons and add your own melody

http://www.vuzz.net/luketerry_mk2/terrence.html

it's only an alpha version, my new site won't actually look like that!

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Apr-13-2005 01:22:

Something about it doesn't really sit right with me as a standalone track, although as a website loop, I suppose it's fine.

Posted by iloop on Apr-13-2005 02:30:

very nice and smooth.

Posted by josh on Apr-13-2005 05:34:

The web is interesting!

Nice tune u got there!! Well done! Love downtempo alot

Keep it up Luke!

Posted by AniG on Apr-13-2005 06:34:

wow, its absolutely splendid, i wish i could make a little melody like that.
and the reverse break beats are really cool.

Posted by arctic on Apr-13-2005 08:04:

In all honesty I think that this is better than a mere website loop - the melody from the original really fits in with a more downtempo, ambient sort of style. I was hanging out for a conventional piano somewhere in there, but it works just as well without one. Other than that, nothing constructive to add. Nice work.
