Talla 2XLC - Live at Kinki Palace (12-25-01)

Nice mix by talla. I didnt have anyother of his sets So I dlled it last year from RMF, and I was very pleasantly surprised by it. Very nice traxx throught the mix and mixing itself was nice too.. The thing I liked the most was that he played my 2001 no#1 track Nu NRg - Dreamland (although he managed to ruin that beautiful buildup )
haha I dont know if U guys have the same rip I do, but in the rip I have there was a funny thing: It seems like @ ~58 minute mark recorder accidentally switchde to the local 'soft' radio. and for ~50 seconds there was Whitney Houston in the *.mp3 after that he switched back to 'PUNK'

nice mix my 9/10

I'm really not sure about this one, it seems to be more of a show off - "look what records I've got" than a good mixing session.

Sorry, I'm a sucker for really sweet mixing (not that I can do it ).

Great mix! Especially the beginning - the first set I've heard that begins with a Russian tune. And damn I'm pround for this (my) country.

Posted by delstar on Jan-08-2002 16:26:

wow

another mix thats been on other sites from 3 weeks ago.....

if there is gonna be 1 mix every 24 days here.....why cant it be unique

Posted by Little Theseus on Jan-08-2002 19:11:

A good set of Talla though, he really improved his mixing skills compared to the other sets I heard from him almost a year ago. Although I think he still has much to learn about his skills, but the choice of his records is brilliant, except for these two: the first one, its a big hit here in Holland, I hear it 10 times a day, Im sick of it now , but I dont think its the same in other countries. The 2nd track I dislike is at 80.00; its a completely fucked up version of Southside Spinners Luvstruck, download the track and hear the difference.
Anywayz, keep up the good sets!
( I gave this one a 7 by the way )

Greed will get you nowhere.

I have never done things based on what other sites do nor will I ever start to.

If you don't like it, too bad.

If I like it, it goes up - regardless of whether 1 other site has it posted up or 200.

Just because you have it doesn't mean the 10999 other daily visitors to the site have it.

Ever think of that?

Didn't think so.

Southside Spinners - Luvstruck

That mix that he plays is not that different from the original apart from the dodgy chords in the background and some dodgy bloke shouting "Speed Up! Back and Forth!" every now and again. I like Luvstruck, but because it is so old, only really play the Atlantis ITA Mix anymore.

good tracks, bad mixing

now if talla only knew how to mix cleanly... this set would've gotten an 8 or 9 from me. voted a 6 cuz i can mix better myself. and for that guy who was whining that this set was posted on other sites.

GO FUCK YOURSELF

swamper spends a shitload of time and effort into this site and for u to flame on his msg boards... show the man some respect.

i wont even waste my time swearing at you gsx.....try to be somewhat mature

Thumbs up

I think this is a great set. its funny about the mixing thing though. Check this out right, i have like a ton talla cd's (technoclubs) and in every one the mixes are Excellent. but this is only the 2nd live set i have ever heard from him (becides when i saw him at ultra 3 amazing!!!) and the other live set i heard from him was posted here some time ago and the mixing wasn't that good either. its funny the man has awesome records maybe he just isn't a good mixer. maybe when he makes cd's he has to try and mix two tracks togeather like 10 times before he gets it right for it to sound perfect. hehe i dunno kinda makes sence. because as i said on all of his cd's that i have are excellect mixing. but reguardless of the mixing i think that he is a GREAT dj and this is a great set and thank you for posting it. peace and respects.

good choice of tunes. I am pretty sick of PPK tho. First time i heard it, it was great, but it sucks now.

The mixing has surely improved since i heard the last talla set on TA (diezenbach or something?)

Its nice to hear fresh tunes too,but the track around 34 mins annoys me

Nice!!

hey all,

yea Talla's got a nice mix of tracks here, alot of energy coming out of it, but he's still not at the top of his mixing game yet, hopefully soon though right, some tracks just jump to the other part of it, not smooth at all, but i definitely dig the energy of this set!
and i noticed the luvstruck - southside spinners mix or whatever it was? overall a good set! man that track after the 60 minute mark rocks!!! havent heard anything like that in a while!

peace

thx for posting this up swamper!

Yea thats what i'm talking about!!! it sucked though he was on the same time as Digweed, but it's all good. If anyone noticed a kid going crazy spining glowsticks on strings in the middle of a circle during talla's set in the gatecrasher area, hehe that was me. anyways enough about that, let the reviews go on

Posted by DynaFire on Jan-10-2002 14:02:

I've only heard the frist 27 minutes so far but I love talla, sometimes he does some strange mixing (eg he screws up) but his sets rock, tons of energy and not just the same stuff everyone else plays. I've got a set of him vs DJ Taucher and it is amazing, just a fantastic set, not one you go to sleep in. I just want him to come to Australia!

Thumbs up Good set

Despite the very weak mixing (which surprised me; Talla 2XLC, after all, is a quite famous DJ), this set is excellent.

The tracks are simply great, I love them.

(BTW that '99 mix of Universal Nation is superb.) 9/10.

Posted by hapamoto on Jan-27-2002 22:20:

omg..

i'm digging this set.. song selection is excellent.. although his mixing is terrible.. i haven't heard any other live sets of his but I hope they include better mixing.. it seems like there is almost no attempt to beat match at all.. just fading from one song to the next.. but he is famous so i guess he can get away w/ it.. if mixed properly, this set would get a 9 from me, but i'd have to give it a 6 solely because the lack of mixing skill.. song selection deserves the 9..

Posted by unity303 on Jan-29-2002 20:39:

Thumbs down

yes talla is world famous. yes the track selections are good. but any trancehead can pick out good tracks from bad. not that i'm a great dj but somebody's gotta say this...

this is hands down some of the worst *mixing* I've heard on tranceaddict.

from track to track there's almost no continuity. the first mix into push was offensive to say the least, i prayed that the next mix would be good... but my prayers were answered with another drop mix of a song that was never meant to go with together with any remix of universal nation. the rest is a plethora of individually grand tracks, but continuously mixed as one, a harmonic clash of the titans. even oakenfold can mix in key... didn't anyone else notice this?

THE VERDICT: make a playlist in winamp, use a 5 second crossfade, and i present to you, dj talla's kinki's palace mix.

I couldn't care less about mixing "in key". It's about what tracks get the crowd going nuts and if I were at this event, I would be going nuts. IMO this is a great set. Yes he plays a couple trcacks for too long but otherwise, I haven't heard a selection like this from hardly anyone else. And no not any trance head can pick good tracks.

What set would you recommend though, Mr. Connoisseur?

Posted by DynaFire on Feb-01-2002 11:47:

Ok, on the subject of decent mixing, some mixs in this where not compleat screw ups, though yes quite a few where, possibly because some of his tracks wheren't that easy to mix out of, but if i had to choose between this set and the technicaly very good but very, very boring John 00 flemming set that was on TA a while ago, i know i'd choose the talla, it ain't all about mixing, though i'd really love it if talla got a little smoother.

isn't this a review forum? take it with a grain of salt.

didn't mean to come off so offensive or high, if anyone feels the tracks are good then that's something i'll smile to if we ever ran into each other at a party. but if you feel the mixing is good then i won't flame you for your opinion just cause i disagree.

Posted by qwertyu on Apr-17-2002 15:15:

Wink

yeah i thought he could mix better too.....gave it a 7 for the good tracks

Posted by Vinyl Boy on Jun-23-2002 12:11:
