Running From The Shadows-[2:18] 192kbs
Not much to say really. I did post this before as Refresh but I have made some MAJOR changes. It was my first song but now I have a little more experience. I know I am still a noob so please give me feedback for improvement.
You can find it

*EDIT*
Ok. I played with the levels and added an extra element to the kick to bring it out more. Give me feedback on if this is better or not please.

Hey man,
Some very cool sounds you have here, right from the word go. Might just be my personal preference but I'd like to hear more of a fixed beat. Good atmosphere you've created here however, maybe add something else in to give it a bit more of a darker feel.
Seeing as your new to this, this is a very good effort, certainly keep it up mate.
I see you added drums to this
.
Your mix is pretty decent for to be new on this man, point + for that
.
The lead is interesting, the bass is totally into the background, u have to make give more presence to it
.
Going good dude
.
Kopi =o.
DJ balti: Thanks. I dont know what you would like me to add though. This is the darkest it has been yet. lol
Kopi Luwak: What do you suggest I add to make the kick come out more? Less reverb, just turn up the volume, or should I add a whole new drum with it?
Does anyone know where I could get something better than fruityloops? I dont know what else there is cause I just did all this on FL. I am completely new
Not too shabby...like the darkness. You definitely need to do something about that kick drum, needs to be heavier, more raw, louder....etc...either mess with some compression, up the mids on it too to help with the soft, hollowed sound. or even try a different kick. also, around 1:36, the lower key/bass-ish plucking sound needs to be lowered a bit, kinda overpowering.
Definitely what DJ Balti said, would sound really good with a fixed beat, and some rolling basslines maybe. Maybe listen to some UK NRG for examples and ideas.
Overall good start and good job. I'm guessing a lot of people on this forum are going to say FL is a great program, especially when going thru the manual and tuturials, and I do second it. I learned on FL, but now my personal preference is with Ableton Live 5.0. Check out Propellerheadz Reason, Cakewalk's Sonar 5 and Project 5, Steinberg Cubase SX3. There's lots, and the good thing is that most have demos to give them a shot. You can even pick up a Computer Music magazine from a bookstore and they always come with cd's that include their own version of a music making studio for FREE.
Not sure what you can add sorry. I'm not much help there hehe.
Every program has their plus points and Fruity Loops works fine for me, my advice would be to stick with it while you improve.

work on it like you would on any music, be creative, and try different combinations of whatever....Think of an intro, verse, bridge, chorus, break, main peak/climax maybe, another bridge, outro. It doesn't hurt to try different, similar chord progression, and so forth to fill in for the different elements of the song. I also like to think in the form of writing a story...
