everyone who has or once had over 1000 trance songs

tell me. Have you ever exepierenced a disorder called
hyper-active trance mp3 downloading. If so then you may have these symtoms of a full hard drive and very few recorded cd's left..to solve this cure

How many of you do what i do I guess once every 2 to 3 months. Actually sort the trance music you want and what you don't want. I just spent 3.5 hours sorting about 890 trance mp3 accumulated over a 4 month period to my liking in two folders called excess and trance. The excess folder I deleted because those are tunes I think suck or I never would listen to. And the trance is what I listen to often when I am on my comp. I do this because if I did not once every few months I would of had probably over 4,500 songs in a 6 month period. And I really don't like to burn that many songs in a row ..so how many TA's
load them into winamp and listen away untill you are done soritng.

While doing this I listen to each song about 5 seconds and by that know if I want it or not..Reason is I already know all the songs I have but relisten to make sure I want it or not.

PS is I had 890 songs that were who knows what and now I know I have 364 really great trance songs right at my finger tips!! and saved about 8.5 GB's

i've been in the same situation for the last 4 years now! LOL!

the only problem I have come across is that, once in a while i don't really listent to the song and delete it and than like a week later I hear it in someone's live set and it sounds damn good, and I have to smack my self on the head and search for that song again, that happens to about 10% of the songs that I delete!

ahhhh, i download mp3s 16 hours/day. damn, i just bought a 40gb hdd caz i ran out of space... gotta either clean up and delete the stuff i don't need or stop being addicted... i guess i'll go get the broom

Posted by davinox on Feb-08-2002 22:50:

I do that like every month!

And I wipe my harddrive like 3 times a year. Ugh! I'm really really really addicted.

Posted by dbl on Feb-08-2002 23:02:

I have 20+gigs of trance that i have to sort out and brun on CD's..

Posted by Biohazard on Feb-08-2002 23:15:

ugh I got like 500 songs to sort, what I dont like I keep to get "ripe" (Usually progresisve stuff) so I will for some strange reason like in a few months time.

I only keep full vinyl rips of at least 128 kbps
and radio rips where there is no vinyl out yet

Posted by jon on Feb-08-2002 23:21:

Imm getting to that stage, Im now gonna burn all mp3's to cd and use a good database system, untill i can afford a massive HD

Jon

I burn all my old songs in MP3 format onto a CD, and fit between 80 and 100 songs per disc. I have about 55-60 mp3 discs that i have catalogued, and I type out what songs are on each disc, so that if i look for a file, i know were to get it.

You know you're a TrancEaddict when...

You have a large SCSI RAID 5 array dedicated to the preservation & growth of your trance collection.

I'm facing the same problem....i have around 1000 songs only...and i'm getting a new HD soon.....sometimes i get too lazy to even burn the mp3's.....i have about 300 songs to sort out...!!!!

Sarcoman.....your avatar disturbs me....i can't stand looking at it

yeah i have this "new trance" folder which just gets stuffed with all new trance stuff that i downloaded...once it's been listened to, and to my liking, then it goes into the "trance" foler....hehe.....i'm at about 900 trance singles, and well over 100 livesets/cd's.....also over 100 vids as well... ...hehee...( i know it's not much compared to some of you guys, but it's all stuff i like) my 40 gig HD dont have much space on it either....(i'll get a 80gig soon i think- that should last for a while)

Ditto!...lol...
I now find myself lookin' at 40Gig drives to just slap all my mp3 there so I don't have so many burnt mp3 CDs and all over other drives...

Posted by Fraggle on Feb-09-2002 08:40:

you'll need more than 40 gig!!!

i've had one for a few months now (43 gig actually)...but filled it up...then deleted 6 gigs...and now it's filled up again, plus another 6 gigs of mp3s sitting on a 20 gig drive

hehehe...it's a very very very vicious cycle!!!

time to start looking at multiple 60 gig drives i think (my bro just got two of them, filling them up with dvd rips very quickly )

Posted by OrZonE on Feb-11-2002 01:07:

Oh man, this thread is so me . I wouldn't say i have a lot like Fraggle, but i have enough ( just under 2000 by my latest count ). One thing i'll say for sure its a pain in the ass to sort all of my tunes. Maybe thats why i've only done it twice. However, in my case all of my MP3s are loaded into my permanent winamp playlist, so whenever i random play it i get to hear many amazing tracks which i never even knew i had, lol

screw 40 giggers.. get an 80 gigger.. it would be much more worth your while... livesets tend to take up alot of memory and if u wan to store them on your computer an 80 giger is the way to go.. i think i have around 32 gigs of just trance mp3 singles.. which approximates to around 3100 songs.. ive been using an 80 gigger for the past 2 years and its working fine for me

Talking i'm happy with...

I invested in a MP3/CD player! the Rio Volt SP90
its so kikass!!
I've burn about 1.3 gigs of trance MP3s to CDs after taking 3 hours to sort them good from bad.
Then, all i hafta do it pop them in the Mp3/CD player and i've got hours of music without my comp!!!! hahahahah!!!

I can't wait untill i get a DVD burner to burn gigs of trax to 1 DVD!!!!!! *laughs maniacally*

Posted by yujie__ on Feb-12-2002 03:57:

80 gigs is too small for when u dont delete live sets, lots of music videos and trance mp3s. each year, i put a new folder for trance and just let it accumulate till i dont know when. i also back up all everything i download. anysize harddirve is too small if u download at least 7 gigs a week. i am planning to get a 160 gig or larger when price drop real cheap.

Posted by Devbert on Feb-12-2002 04:50:

I have Dual 100 GB, 7,200 RPM 8 MB Cache Hard Drives in my Brand New Alienware Comp. I have 6,900 MP3's, 40 gigs worth. I'm never going to stop downloading. Ever.

Posted by NY1004 on Mar-03-2002 01:46:

Haha I suffer from the same problem!! I'm kind of anal about organizing my mp3's and sorting them out and deleting which ones I don't want. Whenever my friends call and ask what I'm doing I always either say, DLing, archiving, or organizing hehe. Its really time consuming..

Posted by sharpeye00 on Mar-03-2002 17:50:

i just dont worry about it when i run out of space. unless its a must have track then i'll figure out a way to get it delete a program here and there and bingo i have space again. good stuff. i hate burning music cause its not accessible like it would be if i left it in my harddrive.
