Novation XIOSYNTH 25

I was very tempted to purchase one of these Novation XIOSYNTH 25's the other day, as I want to downsize my midi keyboard and looking at the 'press' reviews, this looks like a good buy for a midi keyboard + a little onboard synth.

Just wondering if any of the 'real' people instead of the press had experience with one of these and what you thought ?

People seem to like it alot. It's got a fully capable novation synth engine in there, similar to the KS-series (I have a KS4 which I happen to love). Only complaints I've heard are that editing takes a little while to get used to, but that's to be expected when you only have 8 knobs.

Haven't heard anything about the keyboard feel, but if it's anything like Novation's other controllers it should be great.

that part cracked me up!! I'm tempted to get this one, inexpensive little piece of hardware thats been rated quite well. MusicTech magazine gave it 10/10 with one of the downsides being "hard to put down"...looks like a good one

I dont think they could make software emulate the crispy overdrive of the outputs filled with dusty insects tho. But one can hope...

I agree, the overdrive is far too disturbing to be emulated by any software.

Posted by TaylorR on Dec-29-2006 21:58:

true. emulating a fish osc and leather would be quite hard...not to mention the insect tusk parts on the output
