Your Personal Production BIO.

This thread is intended to show all new and old forum readers about your personal experience in producing music. Please share a little music production bio of yourself. I would be really interested in knowing about everyone on this board. Thanks!

Some people have boatloads of questions... oh well... I felt like answering this one.

Infant - seemed to be responsive to some of daddy's records.

Tot - Unknown

Small Fry - Fell in love with electronic music when I smuggled one of my father's CDs entitled: "Oxygene 7-13 : Jean Micheal Jarre".

Preteen - Got my only girlfriend in existence: she was an alto and a jazzy little chick. I got really good with her and managed to play all kinds of jazz/blues at honor's recitals. Unfortunately, I would never play that saxophone again after leaving Colorado and fell into a period of depression that made me basically not want to do anything, let alone play an instrument. Sadly, my musical mentor died a few years ago smoking away the only lung he had (let that be a lesson to you all).

Teen - I played a keyboard that my parents bought for me as a Christmas gift. Loved it... hated it because I couldn't record anything I did. I taught myself how the play piano to some degree.

Junior-Senior (17, 18) - Was introduced to Fruityloops!

Today - I use Fruityloops, a stack of VSTs, a Roland JP-8080, and a Radium MIDI keyboard.

I really got in to Trance before 18 months, started producing before a year.
It was FL first, Reason all the way now.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Dec-22-2006 11:36:

Got into trance about six years ago, got Reason two or three years ago but didn't start using it seriously until maybe a year ago. Bought Ableton during the summer and got Komplete in August, so I'm learning those as well and loving it.

Have made some stuff I'm kind of satisfied with by now, but not quite enough to put it up for critique.

1999-2001 - Used ModPlug Tracker, submitted tunes to TraxInSpace.
2002-2004 - Got some hardware, learnt to use it.
2005 - Made some pretty bland remix of Coldplay, got some airplay.
2006+ - Been too much of a lazy fuck to do anything else.

pre '97: played nintendo.

1997-2002: professional at teh mouse sports (cal-i kthnx) listend to lots of techno (all the techno i could find on napster lolol)

2001-2002:forgot about techno.

2002-2004: made beats.

somewhere inbetween there someone played some hard NRG trance with hoovers and acid's while im in the backseat going 90 down highway. i knew thats what i had to make, but had no fucking idea because i thought the world revolved around romplers and MPC's. slowly i made the transition and all of 05 i made nothing but techno.

2004-2005: made beats and tried to make techno

2005: signed up here. figured out how to make techno, and did so. forgot about beats.

early 2006: fuck couldnt find any good techno, equals no insperation for good techno

mid 2006: nothing with a 4 on da floor beat sounds remotly interesting to me anymore. booooooored. where is the new school hard house? what is this slow hardstyle gated kick/'reverse bass' shit some ppl are trying to call new hardhouse? gay.

late 2006: went back to beats.

I think if anything has influenced my recent productions, it's K.

But we probably shouldn't encourage that sorta stuff.

1985 - started to listen to all sorts of electronic - pop music.
1989 - aquired my first casio keyboard. - very cheap 49 key..
1990 discovered hardware synths, atari st, and cubase, all thanks to
a guy who had a extensive Home studio, and accually took the
time to teach me the basics of midi, synthesis, sampling, and
cubase. Learned some music theory, playing piano by ear.. and
more...
1993 909, 808, moog, 303, k2000,juno 106, and man many more gear
aquired thrue working my ass off, during high school years,
and thrue summer jobs.
1994 some early stuff played at local clubs. Various collaborations,
remix projects with others.
1996 sold some of the classic synths and drum machines, bad
mistake, still regret it today..
1997 aquired Cubase vst.
1999 sold some more stuff, took a few month brake from producing..
clubs, party, friends and working....
2000 sold everything, with all the knowledge aquired over the years,
made a plan of what I need, and where I wanna go with the
studio stuff. Money acquired from sale of mixing board and
other equipment went toward a new much better computer/hardware
based studio.
2006 Very happy due to having almost everything I planned, and more.
My doughter was born that year.
2007 + looking forward to more fun and good times spent while
producing and helping others, remixing and all the other good
things in life.... Some side projects with dieferent vocalists,
and colaborations...

there was more of course, but I just don't feel like typing an essay heheheeh
