Have you heard this melody before?
I just put down a melody of sorts, and I wanted to make sure I wasn't unconsciously copying it from anywhere. So, has anybody heard this melody before?:
Melody
i have not heard yet....
don't think I heard it before...but can see your off key at a few points...
The chromaticism was purposeful, actually, but I think I've decided I don't like this one anyway.
I believe you could come up with something much more interesting... Since the start is repatitive and the end got too many changes...
Just try to get something a bit more catchy and light.
Good luck!
I've never heard anything like it before. You're gonna need some interesting bassline changes to make this one work.
Yeah, I don't think chromatic stuff can work very well in dance tracks.
I should probably learn more music theory before I do much experimenting with chromaticism anyway.
The melody is overall unheard of by me -- especially the dissonant passage that makes no sense to me... BUT, the repetitive motif reminds me alot of Airhead - Vortex (A1 Mix)... however, without the bassline changes.
My advice would be use accidentals sparingly and for a reason (an audible reason, not a theoretical reason). Play your usual scales or whatever it is you do and bung in the odd accidental if the moment feels right. The only way you can learn this is at the keyboard, I guarantee that no amount of reading will teach you where to use accidentals.
Your original scale is a piece of chicken and all the other notes that make up the chromatic scale are a flavour dip. From time to time your going to want to add a bit more flavour to your scale so you dip into the chromatic scale for a note or two. Too much dip and it'll be overbearing, and sometimes the chicken is fine on it's own.
^ You don't have to use it this way obviously. You could just go to the keyboard and write a tune with whatever notes you want.
They should really change the name of the chromatic scale to the 'free scale'.
Chicken?!
The key modulations actually do work in some spots, not quite so much in others. There's sort of a main theme in the middle and at the beginning/end, and if you swapped out the other material for a more natural transition then I think it'd turn out pretty well.
Can't say I've heard this exact melody before, although I've certainly heard the progressions before - but then, just try to come up with one that hasn't already been done...
