how much time
how much time you spend on your track?
Depends on the track.
5 days - 4 months
i think the average is about 2-3 weeks
Depends on ideas.

Sometimes I spend 2 weeks on a track. Then never finish it cause I dont like the idea I had for it at the time I was doing it.
And sometimes I cant finish a track because Windows is so amazing that out of no where when I hit the power on button on my PC it'll say boot disk failure.
But most times it takes a few days to a few weeks.
But now I switched to a Mac so I'm learning Cubase.

Months, always.
i can slam the main structure in about 1 hour, then the rest of the track takes 3-4 days, i ussually think and write down stuff though for days before

I can barf one out in a few hours if pressed, but to get it to a level where I'm actually happy with it I'd say 2-3 weeks, or around 20-40 work hours.
varies from two hours to spanning over three or four weeks
I usually have my best ideas form in one day... My best tracks have always been finished in a day. However, there are a few tracks that took up to a week or so of on and off work that I'm also proud of.
I don't know why, but working feverishly for many many days on a track seems to negate my inspiration on it. Sadly, I end up spending more time working on instruments, drums, and loops than actual finished tracks.
When I'm in the zone, two solid work sessions before I have something I'm happy with. Usually two more before I'd call it done sound/technical wise.
If not, I can just dawdle and fiddle for ages
about a week to get the idea down and some technical stuff. then id leave it for a week then come back and change sounds and eq etc. can take from a week to a month. my current one im working on is a track i started in november.
on a related side note; how long do u spend on a remix??
I have one song I've been tinkering on for the past 6 months, than I have another I've been working on for a week and it's just about finished.
sometimes everything comes to me practically at once, other times I have to keep playing back the tracks I have down searching for that one piece of inspiration that'll set it all in motion.
the faster you can get it done, the better it gets

I've got one track that I've been working on for over 3 years.
Time should never be an important factor when writing music.
