Andryuha - 3/16/07 - Progressive (Critique my mix, v. 3)
As some of you know, I have been learning to spin since november. I've posted some of my mixes (dull of train wrecks, of course) here before to hear your feedback. I'd like to thank everybody that actually took their time and provided me with constructive criticism. I recently made another mix, because I feel I've improved greatly. I would really appreciate it if some of you listen to it and provide feedback. Thanks!
Playlist:
1. 4 Strings - Take me away into the night (vocal club mix)
2. 4 Strings - Let it rain
3. AVB - Control freak (Sander Van Doorn remix)
4. Kenneth Thomas feat. Colleen Riley - Ghost in the machine
5. Grooveyard - Mary Go Wild (Ron Van Den Beuken Remix)
6. Menno De Jong - Tundra

Thanks for your response. I know I should count bars, but I, don't really do it - seems to be a bit too tedious. I'd like to learn to mix without doing the actual counting. Also, do you think it would be better to beatmatch high hats instead of kicks?
BTW, that particular version of "let it rain" is a vocal club mix. That's all I know. I got it from one of my friends.
Counting bars shouldn't be tedious and after a bit of practice doing it, it becomes second nature so you'll do it without even noticing.
Downloading the mix now...will let you know what I think ASAP
Didn't hear your previous mixes so not sure what they were like but this one is a little raw but if you keep practiscing, you'll get there.
Definately need to work on your transitions a bit and finding the right time to start moving the crossfader but the general flow of the mix was pretty good so that's something to build on.
Looking forward to your next mix

| Originally posted by Beatflux Nickster is right. Counting bars because almost second nature after a while. Just listen to more Trance. Kicks are almost always on the beat. You can use hit hats, but if they are off they may confuse you for now. |
You can tell when a new bar starts from the start of a new vocal sample or instrument.
