headphone question - again!!!!!!!!!!

sorry to ask a never ending question but I am just about to get some headphones for when I cant use my monitors for reason of neighbours etc etc.

I produce trance and tech trance and know that headphones can never replace monitors and will not do a great job when producing but at the mo I have no choice so I will have to buy some.

I have been looking at a couple or pairs

BEYERDYNAMIC DT990 PREMIUM HEADPHONES

SENNHEISER HD650 HEADPHONES

I already have some HD 25's which I really like but are realy not good for producing and just wondered what people had to say about the 2 pairs I am looking at.

Do you think I am going in the right direction with my choices and what should I choose really.

sorry again for the question but I just want to make the right decision.

cheers guys

just found this and am a little confussed

are these:-

link

the same as these:-

[showUID]=45&tx_sbproductdatabase_pi1[showUid][backPID]=68&cHash=f8ff1123c1]link

I know the model is the same and everything but the price on Turnkey is silly cheap and they look slighly different in the pictures.

I cant see that there is anything different but want to make sure that the 1's on turnkey are exactly the same.

just thought i'd ask

cheers

Have a look at the AKG k240S headphones, they seem to be a favorite here on the forum.

do you really think that the overall sound quality will be better than say the HD 650's

I'm not worrying too much about price as I have about 250 to spend but just want to get the right pair.

Its a shame I live so far away from Turnkey because I would get over to test em out but this it just not possuble.

cheers for the advice guys

I gotta say it again. AKG is a greate pair of studio phones. HOWEVER, the DT990 are just PREFECT for making clubmusic due to its large frequenzy range.. really easy to get those lowends stable and tight. And its easier to get have controll of the higher frequensies... Due to the DT 990 has a better allover response.

The Byerdynamic is not a "simple" studio headphone. No its a Studio monitor headphone. Whats the difference?

well the transducers are fitted to adjustable yokes which should be positioned to fully enclose the ear. This will provide the optimum ear/speaker position for accurate sound monitoring.

Now the K 271 Studio is the perfect choice for any application where sonic bleed could cause problems such as broadcast work. Another important feature of the K 271 Studio is the addition of a switch in the headband that mutes the audio just as soon as the headphones are taken off.

The HD 650 on the other hand is not really a studio headphone. Its a greate phone though. However it has some "gadgets" in it thats not really optimal for studio apperence. Like Computer-optimised magnet systems for minimising harmonic and intermodulation distortion, or why not, Balanced, crisp bass and deep bass reproduction and Authentic voice reproduction. not what i would have wanted, cus the sound you produce will only fool you that the sound you have just made will actully just sound like that in your headphones and you wont get a good straight sound image like the phones above.

Cheers

Not if you read this!

The HD 555 open, dynamic stereo headphones feature a special internal surround reflector. It generates an extended, spatial sound field, making this model the ideal headphones for home cinema as well as music. Many innovative features such as E.A.R. technology and optimised Duofol diaphragms deliver a whole new level of audio reproduction.

advanced Duofol diaphragm technology almost eliminates standing waves inside the capsule..

A greate headphone for watching movies and LISTENING to music, not making music..

Can you please give me your opinion on the

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium vs. SOny MDR-SA5000 vs. SOny MDR-SA3000? I need a good pair of headphones for my studio. also do you recommend a headphone amp or not? if so how powerful and what price range will work

Thanks a lot!!
