CG - Hardcore Bassline
Hey there,
for the sake of learning I'm trying to recreate some classic sounds, and I'm a bit stuck on the bassline for Cosmic Gate - Hardcore, wondering if anyone can help with this oldschool song.
The pattern doesn't sound too hard, especially after the first kick, but I can't figure out how they get this decending sequence sounding right between 1st and 2nd kick.
I don't think it's portamento, it's almost like the bass slides an octave though..
Pattern after that is just something like
K---K---K---
--B---B---B-
..but what happens in the first bar?
I've attached a sample, hope someone can help

K---K---K
-bBb--B--
b = lower note
there is a tiny bit of glide on it, not much.
the bassline is in G so basically to get that sound you need to go up to g3 and then down to f2 with a some portamento or glide(same thing)
Just make a regular off beat bassline and add the G3 and F2 between and your done.
anyway I did this in 2 minutes and it sounded the same as your clip.
Thanks heaps for your help guys, I tried what you suggested echosystem and it sounded close, but not the same and I'm pretty sure it's the notes/pattern not just the sounds im using..

..sounds better, in which case echosystm was right on the money the first time, thanks for your help dude!
I've alays been confused when it comes to glide/portamento setting on synths, anyone care to explain what they do how to use them?
