trance adverts on tv. who would have thought that would happen again.

Yeah and??

Nice, it's like he's encouraging everyone to take some acid and buy his album.

Always been a j00f fan, and I can't wait for this album!

Posted by Zak McKracken on Jan-29-2009 19:42:

shit this is cool, also the tracks selected is full on enough to reach out through all the crap on TV. hope others will follow

Posted by Darkarbiter on Jan-30-2009 01:04:

I bought gatecrasher classics because of an add on tv.

It's interesting that they had all the sawey bits of the songs in the preview, and I think I heard like one good bit. Didn't seem like a bad tracklist though.

I can see this is so being advertised to the trance crowd though, I mean why the fuck is it called euphoria? Biggest generic trance name.

Posted by Domesticated on Jan-30-2009 01:33:

I'm not allowed to post until it gets published, but I recently wrote an article highlighting how psy-trance has come full circle. Will post in this thread in a few weeks.

Posted by Darkarbiter on Jan-30-2009 01:47:

Not really, theres plenty of good darkpsy around, and fair bit of excellent standard psy as well. What's important is that theres still plenty of great stuff coming out.

Fuck you're a know-it-all when it comes to psy-trance. Read the article before you try and disagree with me.

God, I HAAATE darkpsy. What good darkpsy are you referring to? Most of it is just silly warpy synths and weak kicks at 170bpm.

I saw this second hand for three quid and almost bought it, but there's too many tracks crammed in there for my liking.

It's nice to see a genuine new trance compilation getting advertised on the TV. As far as I can tell, the only big trance compilations in the UK that still sell are just repackaging the same fucking hits over and over again. I saw this in HMV the other day:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dave-Pearce...8/dp/B0015LPRPQ

Who the fuck still doesn't own these tracks? Dave Pearce alone has been churning these compilations out for about five years, and yet they still keep selling! What's irritating is that they always go for the predictable tracks. That old Euphoria compilation is still for me a better classics compilation because it has tracks you haven't heard a million times on the radio.

Taste is relative and I agree, there's a lot of shitty darkpsy. But at the very least you should base your opinion on the acknowledged classics i.e. Derango, Ghreg On Earth, Encephalopaticys, etc. I really don't think this style is for everyone, but I happen to like the best of it quite a lot.

I may check that out in the future. I've always wanted to like darkpsy, but too much of it sounds like shit. I'll look into it, man, thanks!

On topic, I've been listening to Psy Trance Euphoria 2 today, and John 00 Fleming has really created some very well rounded sets. The first set is some very tasty progressive, with his deep mix with some darker, trancier, slightly more psychedelic tracks. I still haven't listened to the Full On CD, yet. Saving the best for last

Possibly fair enough.

but if your going to tell me stuff all and then tell me that argument has already been considered in something I cannot possibly have red, thats a little silly.

I don't like the 170bpm stuff too, but theres plenty of very solid stuff in the 145/148-155bpm range which is at the very least genuinly trippey. Although some of it is "overly" trippey which I've never found with goa trance/regular psy/forest psy.

Stuff I've liked: Rinkadink (thats possibly technically suomi), Penta's second album (didn't like third, haven't heard first), Darkpsy, Xyla, Azax syndrome (which is a cross between full on and dark btw ), Kindzazda and some compilations stuff like http://www.discogs.com/release/469961 which I really enjoyed.
