ID Contest 77 - Finished!

Hi hi hi!

I have to admit, I really enjoyed listening to tracks, picking what to put in this contest and then (despite my grumbling), what parts of the songs to sample. I have a great love for music and so often I forget how much good stuff there is...too much really. We are so lucky to have so much. Thank you to everyone who gave advice and helped put this together. Special thanks to Ory for guidance, contributions, input, helping with the technical side.

So, here it is:

[[ LINK REMOVED ]]

Direct Download (Thank You, Boomers)

Please, download the pack and listen to the 60 samples that are enclosed. Identify as many tracks as you can. You can submit your answers to me on TA PM as many times as you wish.

Always post all your answers in each PM that you send to me. Whatever you do, please don't post answers or even vague hints in this thread. Your updated score is the total of all points achieved in the most recent PM sent. If you want you can # your PMs. Like #1 Answers to Contest 77. #2 Answers to Contest 77. #3 Answers to Contest 77. And so on.

You get 1 point each for artist, track title and remix.

Thank you, Subtle for providing a direct download link! I'm deleting that link now and the original Zshare and Megaupload links because those files are the mono samples.

The contest will end at 22.00 GMT, 22 February, 2009.

Good luck! Thank you, for playing! The winner gets to create the next contest! Fun fun!

Echos, why didn't you just use my server?

Posted by phant0m on Feb-03-2009 09:05:

Nice one, but these samples are in mono .

Posted by Echo of Silence on Feb-03-2009 15:15:

Boomers, I was going to upload to your server. I just didn't have that much time yesterday.

I don't know why the samples are in mono. I still have the original samples and they are not in mono... I'll ask Ory or Tony about this when I have a chance.

Posted by distant on Feb-03-2009 21:51:

yo.

here's a stereo version: [[ LINK REMOVED ]]

Posted by Echo of Silence on Feb-04-2009 01:46:

Okay, I've updated the download links in the original post. The stereo version of the samples can be downloaded from Boomer's server or the new megaupload link.

Thank you, Ory for the extra work. Thank you Boomer for the server space. Thank you Subtle for providing the direct download link to the first file which unfortunately has mono samples.

Let the fun begin!

Again, enjoy and good luck to all the players.

Here we go again!

I will send my first answers relatively soon

Nothing subtle about Subtle's early lead.......

Standings:

Subtle 27
Boomers 13
sisterbliss 4

Uniques:

Subtle 7
Boomers 2

Nice start! Remember, the earlier you get your first submissions in, the quicker I respond and you get get to work on the 2nd submissions...

AND and and obviously, the more times you try, the better you'll do...

so...

just...

do...

it!

I'm liking the recent uproar of the puns in the talley titles.
Will grab this later tonight and see how i go.

Score Sheet 2 (04.02.09 End of Day Update) - PAUL PAUL PAUL IT'S AUL PAUL!!

Well, not really "all" Paul, but that rhymes so I typed it!

Two more competitors submitted their first entries on the 4th. Paul pounced to the top of the chart and Ian snuggles up with Subtle in the total point count. Cozy cozy!

Standings:

paulandrews 53
Subtle 27
Ian 27
Boomers 13
sisterbliss 4

Uniques: Ian stole 4 and Paulandrews stole 3 uniques from Subtle, knocking him off the chart. The king of the hill this round is Paul. Ian snuggling again, this time with Boomers on the unique table.

Paul Andrews 11
Boomers 2
Ian 2

There are a couple of new submissions in my inbox which I'll score, shortly. As some of you know, I have "issues" with two of the samples which will also be addressed as soon as I get copies of files in question.

Thanks to all of you for playing. Fun fun! Bring me more answers! I'm greedy.

Posted by GroundLine on Feb-05-2009 19:49:

When I saw 15 messages in the thread I thought it had been up for at least a week, as my contests usually get 15 messages (of which 12 are mine).

Have to get me some boobies...

The Size of Playing Field Increases;
The Size of Paulandrew's Lead Decreases...

Score Sheet 3 (05.02.09 End of Day Update)

Look out, Paulandrews! Here comes the pack! We had 3 strong first submissions, yesterday. Welcome phant0m, Quethas, and Demens to the game!

Paulandrew is still in first but he surely can feel the phant0m and followers snipping at his heels! Sisterbliss is the first to make a 2nd submission. I think she listened to 10 more samples and gained 9 points, trying unsuccesfully to get out of last place. Boomers and Subtle gained one point when expert Ory ruled in their favor on my remix issues (track 11 and 38).

Standings:

Paulandrews 53
phant0m 47
Quethas 35
Demens 35
Subtle 28
Ian 27
Boomers 14
sisterbliss 13

Uniques:

As you would expect, there was all kinds of excitement and confusion in the unique count. Phant0m took 1 unique each from Ian, Boomer and paulandrew and started out with six of his own. The remix ruling bit into his six and then came Quethas. Quethas took 2 uniques from Paul and 1 from Phant0m...Demens took 2 from paulandrews and another one from Phant0m...and when all was said and done...

paulandrews 5
phant0m 3
Quethas 2
Boomers 1
Ian 1

We need a couple more players and some round two submissions to keep things exciting. Invite your friends to play! Get busy on your 2nd submissions! Let's go go go!

Oh, it's on now!

Posted by Camwin on Feb-07-2009 04:26:

Should do OK in this one.

Posted by Echo of Silence on Feb-07-2009 18:09:

It's getting hard to breathe at the top...
Score sheet 4 (07.02.09)

Groundline makes a grand entrance with 51 points while Subtle and Demens improve their scores and move closer to the top with impressive 2nd submissions.

Paulandrew hangs onto his lead by the skin on his teeth!

Point Standings:

paulandrew 53
Groundline 51
phant0m 47
demens 44
Subtle 42
Quethas 35
Ian 27
Boomer 14
sisterbliss 13

More chaos in the unique chart. Groundline started this round with 3 uniques; he deprived paulandrews and Ian each of one unique (knocking Ian completely off the unique chart). Demens took another unique from paulandrews and then Subtle took a unique from both paulandrews and Groundline. The number of players on the unique list shrunk and obviously the number of unique ids shrunk.

Phant0m is the new king of the Unique ID hill!

Unique IDs:

phant0m 3
paulandrews 2
Quethas 2
Groundline 2

Such excitement! We're off to a fine start! Gimme gimme gimme more submissions! Thanks to all who are playing!

#40 is killing me...

Posted by Echo of Silence on Feb-09-2009 16:46:

...and and and Then, there's Ben!
Scoresheet 5 (09.02.09)

We welcome to the game benjamin and limin_li. Limin_li posts a respectable 31 points on his first submission. Ben started my day yesterday with 51 points, moving into a tie for 2nd with Groundline. I found a 2nd submission in my inbox this morning and with that score, an additional 6 points, he swoops past paulandrews and grabs the lead!

STANDINGS
benjamin 57
paulandrews 53
Groundline 51
phant0m 47
Demens 44
Subtle 42
Quethas 35
limin_li 31
Ian 27
Boomers 14
sisterbliss 13

Uniques: Benjamin took 2 uniques from Quethas, 1 from phant0m, and 1 from Groundline. There aren't a lot left, that's for sure. I accidentally dropped Boomers from the last unique list so he's been restored on this chart. He still has one unique ID. It seems like everyone is iding all or part of the same tracks.

UNIQUES
paulandrews 2
phant0m 2
benjamin 2
groundline 1
Boomers 1
Quethas 1

lacks, I just listened to #40 sample. I don't think I'd be able to identify it if I didn't already know what it is. I should play my own contest and see how well I do.

Okay, guys n girls, gimme gimme gimme more submissions, more guesses, whatever it is you give me so I have good reasons to make more pretty posts! Thank you, everyone, for playing!

...CamWin CanWin?
Scoresheet 6 (10.02.09)

Welcome Lacks, Tree Buddy Boo, and Camwin to the competition! Things are definitely heating up. I had just sent a PM to Groundline giving him the good news that he had moved into first place with 61 points...and like magic, up pops the first submission from Camwin! 62 points and the lead! Oh my! Interesting enough, as I'm preparing this update, a new submission has arrived at my inbox from none other than Groundline! Eeeeeeeek!

Subtle 42

limin_li 31
Ian 27
Boomers 14
sisterbliss 13
Treeboo 12

Okay, Lacks gained a unique ID and took Boomer's only unique ID, bumping him completely off the Unique chart. Groundline took a unique from paulandrew, a unique from Demens (which I don't think Demens knew he had because I didn't give him credit for the unique on the chart), and gained another one of his own. Camwin has 1 unique ID and took away Lacks' unique ID...

UNIQUES

phant0m 2
benjamin 2
groundline 2
paulandrews 1
Quethas 1
Camwin 1

I'm having a lot of fun with this. It's really exciting, thus far. Keep the submissions coming! I'm hungry, roar, for more!

GroundLine GrabsLead!
Scoresheet 7 (11.02.09)

GroundLine hopped ahead of Camwin gaining 4 points over his last submission. Phantom snuck around Paulandrew and Ben, into the 3rd position. With her 3rd submission, Meg moved past Boomers and Ian
and is already working at getting around limin_li.

STANDINGS

Quethas 35
limin_li 31
sisterbliss 28 (gain)
Ian 27
Boomers 14
Treeboo 12

Phantom gained 1 so now has 3 unique IDs and moves into first place. No one lost any of their unique IDs this round so we now have 10 tracks that have only been fully, correctly ID'ed by only one participant.

UNIQUES

phant0m 3 (gain)
benjamin 2
groundline 2
paulandrews 1
Quethas 1
Camwin 1

What track has been fully and correctly ID'd the most? ID 12 and ID 23 have both been ID'd fully 11 times (33 points each).

All 13 participants have a "piece" of ID 33 (30 points).

No one has even gained 1 point on the following ID samples:

2,5,6,8,10,14,15,21,29,31,44,47,51,56,57,58.

No full (correct) IDs have been gained on the following tracks:

6,1,35.

Keep trying, keep your submissions coming!
