Kids ?

So I was curious last week and asked my father how he would feel if he was never a grandfather. He replied that he wouldn�t mind either way.

I was honestly curious to see what he would say. It�s mainly because it�s just me and my cousin to carry on the family name and let�s just say he's more in love with his computer then any girl he has ever met. Plus my parents had me at this time in their lives.

I'm so against Kids that I had to tell my dad he is never going to be a grand father, like I honestly can't stand them and nor can my wife we both agreed to never have kids. I even tested myself with my last girl friend who had a kid. We dated for like 2 months then I met her kid and he was such an annoying brat she never herd from me again. Some people are meant to have children and care for something they created I can't. Me and my wife agree the only thing we'd like to see if we had a baby is how beautiful it would be, then we wouldn�t want it anymore LoL

Can you guys see yourselves as parents one day ?

Up until last year I was dead against having kids... I knew I was too selfish and just thought they would get in my way of a happy life (travel, work, fun...)

Now..... I look forward to it... but I am definitely willing to wait until the right time in my life.... Im too young to be seriously thinking about it.

I get all happy inside whenever I see babies.. lol

Just sucks that having kids will hinder my ability to be a successful career woman. I am convinced that you can not be a a great mother (to my standards) and successful in your career (to my standards) at the same time.... but I guess life will work its way out like it always does.

And I think kids become less bratty when they are your own

My mom use to say (I was never sure if she was joking or not) that she disliked every child but her own.

The wifey wants a kid already? lol

see my wife wants to be a cop and it would seriously affect her creer she had kids plus her dad was rcmp so she knows what its like to have a cop for a parent and doesn't want to do that to her children

We have decided to have kids 5 years after our wedding.....Until then its just us two

if you choose not to have kids that's fine, everyone has a choice. However I personally think its very selfish.

How is it selfish? It's pretty selfless wanting to unload that amount of money on other people.

Your dad is controlling when you have kids

can't imagine myself with kids for another 5 years

I feel that if you don't procreate by choice, then you have wasted your basic existence...

Carrying on the species is our purpose in life...

the kid was only a brat because of the way he was brought up. People dont understand that kids are hard work. you cant just sit them down to play xbox for the full day and expect them to grow up good. they need order, love, activity and diet to be well behaved. If you are basing your hole decision on seeing other peoples kids messing around and not behaving then suggest you reconsider your options because not all kids are brought up like brats that are out of control. But if you just dont like them then yeah... dont have one

I know that a child is behavior is based on the way it's parents raised it and that each child is different. I was such a good little kid when i was younger and i was sooooooooooo loved, i was an only child and the first in the fmaily. But in all honesty little kids have bugged the living _ _ _ _ out of me all my life i could never stand them. And if i feel i won't give my child the same devoition and love i was given by my family i don't think its fair for the child I'm not being selfish i'm putting myself in that childs shoes although a lot of girls who know me tell me i would be a wikkid dad

Huh? The purpose is to enjoy your life while you're living it. That may or may not involve kids. We have a massive population problem on this planet and there is no dire need for every person to spew out more kids...I'd argue procreation is actually detrimental to the planet at this point.

However, I do want kids. I just don't see myself getting my life in order until my mid-30's to be able to do so.

I love children and they love me. I give them love and respect as well as fun and I get respect and love back. I treat them like they are adults with the things they can process in their minds allowing them to make decisions and mistakes and encourage talking about things before, during and afterwards.

I don't think I will have children of my own. I am 30 now and I think the love and care I would feel for a child of my own would be debilitating to me.

So I will stick with being a bunny mummy.

+1 to that, but additionally, its really difficult to judge yourself as a parent if you are not one. Thus, if you were in a position to be having your own, you can't say with certainty that you would feel the same annoyance towards your own child.

apart from your typical overpopulation/world is totally messed up reasons, i've never really seen them in my future. i don't want that amount of responsibility, nor do i want to be pregnant for 9 months, go through excruciating labour (i think it was the video in grade 11 biology that freaked me out), then have to take care/worry about the child for the rest of its life, not to mention the expense involved. i also worry that i'd be a crap parent or that i'd end up with some little monster. i fully admit i'm also too selfish, but at least i'm honest about it. that's awesome that other people want children and i like my friend's children and my neices and nephews --- i'm not some child-hating monster. they're just not for me.

and you know what i really find offensive? when people find out and they say "oh, when you settle down you'll change your mind" because you can't possibly not want children in this world! you never know, maybe i will, but i find it really obnoxious when people say that.

i think i'll just get a puppy instead.
