But video footage released overnight from Const Bieze's car shows Winkfein swearing and shouting at the officer, then daring him to Taser her. �You gonna shove me?� Ms Winkfein tells Const Bieze in the video. �You gonna shove a 72-year-old woman?� �Step back or I�m going to Taser you,� she is told. �Go ahead, Taser me,� she replies. After five more warnings, the �combative� Ms Winkfein was then Tasered. In the video, she can be seen screaming on the ground after being zapped by the 50,000-volt charge. Const Bieze fires another jolt of electricity into her body when she tries to get up. Precinct 3 Sergeant Major Gary Griffin told UK tabloid The Sun: "She was using language I wouldn't expect any woman to use, let alone a 72-year-old woman." �There�s nobody that wanted this to happen any worse, than Deputy Chris Bieze." Ms Winkfein did not require an ambulance and is yet to respond to the video footage.

Seriously though.. what a joke. He is way stronger than her. could shove her around easily. There was no need to taser the poor woman, cops are just using tasers and pepper spray when they're too lazy to tackle and arrest people the old fashioned way. It's going to take some pensioner to die of a heart attack before people start to question giving so much power to some of the dumbest members of society.

what if she had a concealed weapon?


she was given ample time to comply and there are no exceptions to be made to rules for different age groups,minorities and such. It is not a police officer's job to apply the law differently depending on who is there. Plus it made for a hilarious video.

She egged him on to do it. Just because you're old doesn't mean you shouldn't be respectful to others.

Some crotchety old people don't know when to show some common decency and respect for those around them in general. You gonna ask for it, then serves you right.

Age shouldn't have anything to do with it. If she was 35 no one would be pissed off, but because she is in her 70's, suddenly she has some right to be a douche?

I'm not saying there should be an exception. I'm saying the taser should only be used when every other method is impractical/ineffective. Like if there's a big guy, juiced up on PCP holding a machete. Police managed to do their job before they got tasers or pepper spray, and they are still trained in those methods. It seems these days they are looking for excuses to tase people, kinda like homer simpson using his gun to change the tv channel.

Secondly This isn't about "applying the law".. she should be arrested. I'm talking about how the cop discharges his duties in applying the law - which should change depending on circumstances.

No I'd still be pissed off if she was 35. If a cop can overpower the person easily without using pepper spray or a taser then s/he should, regardless of age or gender. Anything else is an abuse of power. Other than that I think cops need to have a higher tolerance for disrespect than most people (not lower). If someone can abuse me on the street and I am expected to shrug it off as a civilised member of society, then at the very least the same level of tolerance (if not higher) should be expected of the people we have endowed with the power to hurt, kill and deprive of freedom.

Obviously she wasn't co-operating. She was resisting and attempting to get back into her truck. I would believe that regular procedure would have been to tackle her to the ground and forcefully cuff her, which likely would have been far more dangerous to her physical safety than the taser.

Anyone at any age could have a heart attack in response to a taser... that's just the risk involved of being a moron.

and when we read about a cop that tried to wrestle down an elderly person and ended up catching a bullet in his head it will be ok too i suppose. If the perp had followed orders there would be no need for escalation in the first place.

amazing how you can put yourself in the shoes of people who risk their lives everyday and tell them what they should do, when your biggest job hazard is something between a paper cut and a french fry grease burn.

remember people, elderly people can't hurt anyone, even the multiple ones convicted every year for violent crimes.

People seem to forget that she was breaking the law in the first place and speeding? I don't care how old you are, nothing gives you the right to endanger other people's lives on the roads. All the more dangerous when the person speeding is 72 years old. I'm glad she got tasered, she could have killed someone.

I doubt it. It souldn't have involved very much force at all. Look how easily he shoved her. He could easily have pushed her against the car and got her hands behind her back.
