Software Synths Help

I own Logic Pro 8. As far as I know, es1 and es2 synths are great along with the Sculpture synth. However I don't have the slightest idea to how to use them, tweak them for a good bass or synth sound.

Where and how can I learn. And please don't tell me experience is the key. I am not new to producing tunes, just new to software synths.

experience is the key

+ reading a book on sound design

another option is to call a pro teacher, such as uncle Lolo, and ask for online help.

I don't do it for free but I can do it with ease since you're on mac running logic.

Info on such teacher?

I produced 300 records, remixed and collaborated with some of the biggest names inside Electronic Music and am now a part-time computer music teacher at a dj school in Brussels.

Is it enough?

Prices?

Do you teach people how to brag about themselves on the internet too?

To the OP, Lolo is maybe more known to you as Airwave, responsible for alot of club damage and great trance-albums such as "I want to believe" and "Trilogique". And also responsible for the success of the Bonzai-label? (Correct me if im wrong Lolo).

@Lolo, how do you teach online? Through shared screens and audio+text or mostly msn-based texting, or maybe iChat? And what are your prices? I might be interested in some basic introduction Logic knowledge as i feel im learning this way too slow, but i should probably wait untill i have the full version of 9 and some more time, im running 8 express now and dont really have much time atm.

I'm interested too, that's why I asked about prices.

It's true. Experience is the key.

But it helps if you get this experience in some kind of directed practice, like focusing on making a specific sound, or learning about a specific function of a synth, instead of just randomly spinning the knobs and giving up in disappointment when nothing good results after five or ten minutes of fiddling.

Synthesis isn't very hard.

There's different types of synthesis: Additive, Subtractive, FM, etc...
You can learn these each in one day. So you're looking at one week maximum to learn it. The rest is experimentation from your part.

Just learn the main terms and what their purpose is. Such as, oscillators, filters, ADSR, LFO, Mod Matrix, etc...

You don't need to cash out to learn things online, when you have google. It just takes the extra effort from your part.

If you have MSN I'll show you a few things for free sometime.

That's my problem. I'm a visual guy. Show me once, and I can figure out the rest. hehe
