2002 "the year of trance" ?? Lets hear what U guys got to say....

So what U think? The magical 1999 trance year has been beaten?
2002 is a great year for sure.
Amazing what tunes came out this year.
And it's still going on.

So what do u think...

Posted by Nook on Aug-09-2002 11:18:

I'll remember it. but every year loads of great songs come out. And for every person a great year maybe different, just depends on the songs they like. but for this year, so far so good for me.

Posted by DennisF on Aug-09-2002 12:24:

agreed, the year 2002 is one of the best years, i would say its the BEST. great tracks!!!

Posted by Jayci on Aug-09-2002 14:17:

I agree! So many great tracks this year. Its like every week we get another brilliant tune

Posted by junis on Aug-09-2002 16:20:

I disagree..

2000 imo!

Posted by Ste on Aug-09-2002 16:42:

i thought last year was much much better./ mind you this year has had some really good tracks. but not many generally good ones.

Posted by Excite on Aug-09-2002 18:16:

1999 is and will always be the year of trance..

Posted by Cobalt on Aug-09-2002 20:12:

It will take something truly revolutionary to beat '99. We've seen a bit of an uplifting revival in 2002, but nothing like what happened to the electronic dance scene back then. The sounds reached an entirely different level.

Love Poundin' Sensation

Of course 2002 have been good, but..

1999 is still the year!

Posted by Hoss on Aug-09-2002 20:41:

Ohhh how I wish I was really into trance back in '99. That's about when I started listening to trance, but it was nothing like I do now. I feel so much more...involved I guess because of TA. I know what songs are new, discuss them and stuff. The songs that have come out in 2002 rock! What songs came out back in '99 that can make it better than now?

yeah me too, I am actually relatively new to the trance "scene"

but indeed, the trance from 1999 is awsome and it can't be beaten by this year so far, nothing "revolutional" has come out so far. Veracocha and Gouryella came out in 1999, truly revolutional stuff for that time.

name the revolutional stuff from 2002....please

Posted by InfiniteSquare on Aug-09-2002 20:57:

you guys are cracked out...2002 is way better for trance...really, if the tracks produced this year came out in 1999, then 1999 would be the best year for trance, but no, you need to be cool and say it was better back then.

everyone does it.

oh it used to be way better back bla bla bla, BULLSHIT

The trance sets these days are by far way better than '99. It just keeps getting better and better. IMO, next year will be even better than this year.

Posted by Strike on Aug-09-2002 20:58:

hmm
i didn't start listening to trance until late 2000 - early 2001 or so
so i didn't experience all that hype
but 2002...there has been some big releases

revival of Gouryella? well..partially
Solar Stone - Solarcoaster, will still be talked about a few yrs from now, juss like seven cities
Sasha finally released his long awaited album

i dunno if it's bigger than 99
but i have 4 words

PvD At Rosenmontags Rave!!!

Posted by MYSTERO on Aug-09-2002 21:40:

i think the year 2000 is the best year

Posted by DJ-Ande on Aug-09-2002 22:00:

Dancing Dude

yeah i think 2002 has had the best tunes so far, but there'z still alot 2 go.......................

but 1999 was the year for uplifting, 2002 has had sum more variety

Posted by TranceSeeker on Aug-09-2002 22:05:

I think 1999 WAS the best year because it was the year of the breakthrough of trance.
Oakies sets were amazing everything u want....but!......Look at all the individual masterpieces that came out in 2002.
Listen to Tiesto at cream Amnesia, Listen to Oakey at dance department omg I die.

Nuff said

Posted by rookie on Aug-09-2002 22:10:

Sad

it was a great year............

but a sad one also......... RIP Audiogalaxy.......

Posted by Pio on Aug-09-2002 22:20:

Back in 1999, was the trance movement as massive and organized as it is today? I doubt that when Gouryella-Gouryella came out people in forums ranted for months about the latest radio rip and whatnot as we did with say........Ligaya. I mean,1999 was the breakthrough year, but trance has evolved to a much higher level today with higher standards of quality and more variety.

It keeps getting better and better I believe....

Posted by jp on Aug-09-2002 22:23:

1999

blank and jones - cream
paul van dyk - another way
mauro picotto - iquana
sunbeam - outside world

etc etc

+ loveparade 1999, mayday 1999, innercity 1999...

2002 is too commercial, too many geeks at parties, everyone can make a good song on his pc nowadays...

1999 is the year of trance

Posted by jdat on Aug-09-2002 22:35:

hummmm
my fav years were
1994

1997

and

1999

2002 might be when this is all blows up and goes commercial

got mixed feelings about that

Posted by Kia Kaha on Aug-10-2002 00:20:

Oh puh leeeze. Take a fresh listen to some of the best mix albums and livesets of '99 (Oakie Lotherton Hall, Ferry Corsten Innercity, MOS Trance Nation 1, Gatecrasher Red/Black, there's plenty of others to choose from), those recordings have nothing but masterpieces from beginning to end.

There's been a half dozen standout tracks this year for sure, but when they have to cane 'Jurgen Vries - the theme' all summer long on radio one then you know they're struggling for quality

Agree!

99 was not only a year of breaktroughs in sounds, but of great quality of some tracks...

imo 2002 is not that good.. even 2000 may be better..

Posted by igottaknow on Aug-10-2002 02:45:

1999 was the bomb. Its hard for me to judge 2002 because of the death of AG and my current losy 56k connection. I think we're in a lull right now and everyone is a little too comfortable. We need another revolution.

"Viva la Trance"

Posted by Mark on Aug-10-2002 04:45:

trance will never see an era that was as great as the 1998/1999 era. that was the BOMB. solarcoaster will never be on par with seven cities. ligaya will not be remembered as much as gouryella. no other anthem will ever replace THE ANTHEM, universal nation.

even 2000 was a much better year than this one. voyage, superstring, cloudwalking, silence, viola, something about u. btw those 5 tunes actually came within the same mix by tiesto and now they are all considered big time classics.

of course all of this is only my opinion.
so please do not think that i am saying this to be "cool"
cuz i am not!!
