Is there a ghost note in this record?

Around 1:00 you've got the UFO sound pulsing in the background like woop woop woop woop, but its changing a bit.

Depending on the volume that I listen at, starting around 1:05 something sounding like a bongo loop sort of appears in the background. If I focus though I can just get my mind to hear it as hand claps. But I think the way the handclaps line up with the UFO sound is making ghost notes.

what are you talking about though lol. sometimes youtube compression/execution(along with rendering from your own video program) causes the highs/midish highs to create this floppy rollover artifact sound i've noticed imo, as i myself upload a lot of my own tracks on youtube, and usually spend a bunch of time on youtube listening to tracks. does it happen on your 320/wav?

Okay, I'm 100% sober now. The ghost note is actually in the beginning of the youtube, its there right from the get-go.

I was debatin with my friend that there was a bongo loop in the background and he was like nah I just here the woops and the claps. But I'm telling you its legitimately there.

If you have DJ headphones put them on and put the volume up pretty loud. The louder it is the more apparent the effect that I'm noticing becomes. In a good club it would be clear as day.

You could be onto something here. I dont have the wav or a vinyl to compare it to but I'll check it out at some point. The sound that I'm talking about lives in the upper mid range. Its almost melodic sounding bongos. May be the "floppy rollover" that you're describing. I hear 2 notes ascending, and then 5 or 6 quick ones that appear to be descending in tone. It repeats every 4th kick drum.

I can tap out the rhythm that it makes on my desk, but I have to have my ears/mind relaxed and not focused on anyone one particular element in the track.

I've just discovered that in Ummet Ozcan - Reboot there is a sample of the main riff of Sander van Doorn - Renegade playing in the background, Reboot has been top 1 in beatport 4 weeks in a row, coincidence?

I hear like an ufo pad but it's too noticeable for me i don't know if thats what you sa. Btw sick track

You should have an eight hour post delay or something (Redd can join you)

Just listen to your friend on this one.

Uhh, there is a soft drum-like sound from the very start. Not sure if that is what you're talking about, but I'm puzzled why you would call that a "ghost", as it sounds quite obvious to me.

Mark sometimes I think you are completely whack. This is one of those times.

I know, you and I have had a few disagreements on here. I think we have similar taste in music though so its unfortunate that the online versions of ourselves do not get along all the time. I have to imagine though, out of all the people that post here, I'm the real deal, what you read here is what you get in real life. I obsess over things its just in my nature.

Edit: No hard feelings either way. Come down to Lawler at District 36 Oct 29th I'm sure its going to be a good party, plus the costumes.

Exactly, so tell that to fucking DOOMBOT because the only thing he can hear is some handclaps and a kick drum. Get your shit together DOOMBOT.

If he just went with the program last night when I called him, and acknowledged that the track had a subtle bongo loop running in the background, none of this would have happened

2 against 1 doombot. Thank you come again.

haha fuck Lawler man. You should come here for Levon Vincent if anything :P

And btw that wasn't a personal attack or anything, but I really think your post is kind of crazy.

If you ask me, the title to this track should be titled The Bong Track, due to the recognizable sound of bongos that clearly play throughout the entire length of the track.

UN...organized by my buddy DJ Ostrich. You should come, we also have Deepchord and Slam here that night at Stereo.

edit: and we also have Maceo Plex on Sunday.

Let me know if you need guest list or anything.

Wow. Jealous.

Also, I can hear a background percussion loop in this track that sounds a bit like bongos, but it doesn't begin at 1.05 and it doesn't sound like two ascending notes followed by multiple descending notes. So I don't know if that's what you're talking about.

Posted by enydo on Sep-14-2011 01:32:

Original is way better.

Yea that's the one.

I am also jealous about deepchord.
