Best time to buy flights from the US?

Hey guys,

This summer is going to be the first time i get to visit Ibiza! Just wondering if any of the veterans here had advice on the best time to purchase flights. I'm heading out July 11th and have seen conflicting reports on the best time to make that flight purchase. Right now they seem to be floating right around $1400 round trip.

given that july is usually a slower month in ibiza your flights should be cheaper, now there is usualy a 5 night minimum stay at alot of hotels for july (7 in august) so keep that in mind

I would keep checking fares but definitely try to book it before april when lineups start to get released

Don't think it really matters. I've never seen much difference in the price of transatlantic flights up to 2 weeks in advance. Last year booked my flights in May for July and I checked again in July and it was pretty much the same.

More important than when you book is when you fly. June July and August are usually most expensive, May September and October are cheaper. Also cheaper to fly midweek than on weekends.

Unlike domestic travel international prices are basically set by taxes and regulations, it is not really a free market at all and fuel is only a third of the total cost so prices are fairly constant
