New Pioneer PLX-1000 Turntable
I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet, but here it is:

| OVERVIEW The DJ quality PLX-1000 direct drive analog turntable is designed for DJs who enjoy the look, feel, and performance of vinyl for music playback. The model offers a highly familiar, user-friendly control layout, high-torque direct drive mechanism, and exceptional audio playback quality. Combine the PLX-1000 with a Pioneer professional series DJM mixer for an ideal system for true vinyl enthusiasts. USER-FRIENDLY CONTROL LAYOUT The PLX-1000 provides a user friendly layout familiar to top DJs of the past and present, providing quick tempo control capability on the right side of the player, start/stop button on the left side, and a high-torque platter with a lighted speed guide HIGH-TORQUE DIRECT DRIVE SYSTEM The direct drive mechanism of the PLX-1000 provides high-torque resulting in stable rotation and exceptional control. The turntable can achieve a starting torque of at least 4.5kg/cm and can reach its fixed rotation speed within 0.3 seconds (at 33 1/3 rpm). SOUND QUALITY DESIGN To create an extremely stable player and prevent vibration, Pioneer utilized a heavy-mass zinc die-cast chassis for the top section of the player, reinforced with a bottom section made of 8-mm thick resin. The base of the unit was further enforced with 9-mm thick vibration-damping material that results in extremely stable playback. The tone arm also received great attention in build quality and design to maximize performance, using rubber insulation to minimize howling effects during audio playback. The RCA jacks feature gold-plated machine-cut parts for low impedance for excellent sound quality output. |
Yeah there was a discussion on it awhile back here.

Well, according to internet specs, a 1210 weighs approximately 26.4 pounds and this new PLX-1000 weighs 28.88 pounds. So I guess that rules out any plastic inside the Pioneer?
I guess the usb hype was bs.
If you read in the first article the main hype was that you can integrate it with record box.

I mentioned earlier that the turntable would need an interface (soundcard) with usb but no high end brand has done it yet except for the insanely audiophile versions which are not for dj consumer which was the feature i was expecting with the pioneer. The mixer being analog or digital wouldn't matter if the signal coming from the turntable with soundcard already converted to an analog signal
A usb stick feature and link like on teh cdj would be sick on plx.
Buh bye serato, traktor.
Technology is evolving these days, i'm sure there will be a heavy duty hybrid turntable but there's one without sound card and its the reloop one which is midi based.
The point of midi for the reloop usb option is that you can map features on serato or traktor to your turntable nothing to do with ac motor.
Well i didn't know a turntable uses midi signals for pitch but i'm still right about the reloop feature.
Oh and that wasn't the point of the earlier discussion.
Oh I knew that hahha, I just couldn't put together what you typed correctly, FYI it does matter to have proper grammar and punctuation because saves so much time on debating or having discussions on something. Everyone can understand you correctly.
Here's what I was talking about. I'm sure it would be useful to some djs.

Anyway enough with midi i agree that its a dumb feature like loading a track onto a another deck when you do with the laptop.
Imo its just step forward toward to new things.
Palm your like TA's internet Mime LOL like itsmemario.
It plays 100% analog vinyl bro
Shit is heavy duty.
Shit is hybrid.

I'm with Paulino on this one;
Pioneer had the option to go further and do timecode control turntable. The Reloop model did do it, but reloop are really crap as a company (I used to service some of their stuff) and secondly choices they made for parts like the tonearm and buttons were not smart.
Granted it's only $799 and when you put it in to perspective that the new Pioneer one is $100 less and doesn't do a fraction of what the Reloop does, the pioneer starts looking like really bad value and the reloop starts to look like quite the bargain.
And this is where I think Pioneer have completely missed the mark:
Removable Power cable. Wow.
Removable RCAs. Golly.
2 lbs heavier. Great.
Rubber inside the tone arm. Amazing.
CDJ style start/stop button. gosh.
The removable cables are nice for installers but I plug my techs in and out maybe once a year. The weight difference won't mean anything. Rubber inside the tonearm? There may be some engineering merit to it but honestly, I'd prefer the Technics tonearm which is the best. CDJ start button? We know how those hold up to abuse.
Now combine that with the fact it's made by Pioneer who don't make either the best sounding or the best lasting kit, you get all this for $700.
The missed a massive chance here; They should have made a timecode turntable. By that I don't mean midi (both MTC and MMC are awful for time based control for anything precise) - they should have made it stream control data (Serato or Traktor) and then it would have been a serious contender.
This crap? Nothing more than a marginal difference to Techs but I trust Technics' build quality and not pioneer's.
Not that its a big feature but can be useful that I like thats on both reloop and pioneer is no grounding cable. That thingy breaks real easily.

It only breaks if you forget to unscrew it and move the turntable where upon the 26lbs of 1210 will snap that cable. Other that that, it does not break. Sure DJ's don't do mods, but show me a decent mixer that does not have the ground hookup. Why is it so difficult? I just don't get it. |

Its not like an rca cable. Its one of the skinniest un durable cable ever that could be used. How can you see not break its common sense. |
