Recording a mix onto my laptop

Haven't recorded a mix in ages, and am now trying to record from my Stanton M203 into my laptop, using Audacity.

There's a kind of a feedback noise present with the recording. Why is this, and how do I get rid of it?

Settings in Audacity seem correct, and I'm using a dual RCA to 3.5 mm cable, plugged into my laptop's mic input.

RCA to 3.5m to a computer is noisy connection setup. Get a proper soundcard, my advice.

I recorded my previous mixes years ago in the exact same way, which came out fine, so surely I must be doing something wrong. Or should I try using a different software?

You might try an inexpensive ground loop isolator from radio shack as a quick fix.

Try another set of cables too. Believe it or not sometimes that can be it.

Bought another pair of cables from Radio Shack to replace the ones from the 99 store and it worked. Thanks!
