the yuma game has been strong since they added the stage

FYI, tickets on sale tomorrow at 11am, there is no three day delay this year

yeah whom ever is in charge of that tent has been doing a fantastic job. They even put in obscure DJ's (at least for the USA) Four tet, Bicep, Floating Points, etc..

Going for the first time this year. Coachella rookie. I don't reccognize 90% of the names.

Any must sees ?

Wifey has been wanting to see Radiohead live for the longest time ! (My luck I'll want to see someone in the Yuma tent at the same time.

Dude... Stop by the Yuma tent for some good techno/deep house.

One per day must sees IMO:
Bonobo
Tycho
Hans Zimmer

Bonobo AFAIK, has only brought his full band to the US for Coachella, and it's quite a fucking show they put on they put on two years ago.

If you haven't seen Tycho, that is a personal failing of yours and you have a chance to rectify it.

And hans zimmer, because, come on.

And here are a few extras I've seen before that are all amazing, and I recommend them:

Phantomgram
Little dragon
SOHN
Moderat
Classixx

There's others too but getting too big a list is kind of pointless.

My recommendation is to pick a few people each day you MUST see, and then wander around for the rest and you're gunna have a good time. If you try to see half the lineup each day you're going to have an awful time.

Thanks! I've never heard of any of those.

Here's who I recognize in ABC order: Bastille, Beyonce, Dillon Francis, DJ Khaled (who I will skip), Empire of the Sun, Glass Animals, Gucci Mane (prob another skip), Hot Since 82, Loco Dice, Lorde, Marshmellow, Martin Garrix, Nora En Pure (thanks to Sirus Chill station), Porter Robinson, Radiohead, Richie Hawtin, Sasha, Solomun (looking forward to seeing him), Steve Angello, The Martinez Brothers and Warpaint (wifey likes these chicks, saw them at Henry Fonda/Music Box recently)

Of course I rather stick to the Yuma Tent. But my boogee ass did get us VIP bracelets that apparently don't give us much except for extra space and maybe a less crowded bar.

Still need to figure out housing situation. I don't feel good about $300-$500+ per night at a motel! Houses for rent are REALLY expensive if they are walking distance. Farther you go, cheaper it gets.

excellent suggestions! spot on yo!! I also completely agree with wandering around. You'll catch yourself listening to some amazing music from people you've never heard of before. You don't need to stay the whole show but just get a taste of some different music.

I'd def recommend you spend at least a good amount of time wandering and exploring. While the Yuma does have a really good lineup, chances are you see those artists often, no? Coachella gets world class acts from every faucet of music, and my wanderings there have opened me to all sorts of amazing music.

seemed to be a lot of main stream hip hop this year on the main stages. Every IG video posted were of Future, Drake and shit like that. Any reviews from TAers?

I see what you mean. Looks like they have something for everyone. Hip hop, bands, 80's bands, orchestras, all types of EDM, trap etc.

I would watch a little bit of each channel on youtube to see if I was interested. My wife feels like we were there already even though we are going this week. Wish me luck!

I also checked on Uber vs. Lyft. For the most part it looked like Lyft was cheaper and faster. Surges would get bad, but not too bad. Until Sunday night, it looked really bad! I'm guessing most Uber and Lyft drivers gave up on Sunday night and therefore the surges were up there! 7 times or 700% around midnight Sunday night. Might have to take it easy and drive Sunday...lets see if I even make it to Sunday!

probably my favorite coachella ever. (was my 7th, in a row)

Posted by jonmitz on Apr-19-2017 15:37:

As for individual acts that you guys would be interested in: Ben UFO was pure insanity... he is really ridiculous. Danced for an hour straight (nonstop, srs) and we ran out of water so we had to leave before he finished.

Everything else (seriously, everything) was amazing too, but most of them are not really TA's thing.

Posted by MR STROKE on Apr-19-2017 20:26:

Great weekend.

Riche Hawtin-Set of the weekend, his CLOSER live show is not to be missed. So many builds and turns, and watching him do everything live mixed into the visuals was insane. Pure destruction!

Also-Solomun, Gaga, Justice, Eli & Fur, Bicep, Mr Carmack, and Mura Masa, all killed.

Let down by-Ben UFO & Bellvile Three(sloppy ass mixing)

Missed-Tale of Us cause I was dead tired and stupid friend wanted to see Kendrick. FML :\

Way too crowded this year though, Golden Voice expanded the fields and it was Still a shit show, at one point it took me 20 mins to walk past the Sahara tent to the bathroom. Straight up safety hazard.
Overall great weekend outside of the heat and crowds

Protip for w2 peeps: security is a joke, we brought 5 different suntan lotion flasks in every day with no issues, made the bar tab this year really cheap

Agreed about bellvile three, but ben ufo? he was insane...

That was fun! First Coachella and I'm sold!

While I wanted to mostly hear the house DJ's and Yuma tent, we mixed it up pretty well.

Friday night - Loco Dice b2b w/ Martinez Brothers had me moving and dancing! I would call them house music djs for the experienced house music listener! (Wifey stayed w/ other people in the group to watch Radiohead. If I stayed at Radiohead any longer I may have slit my wrist. )

Wifey we bummed we missed The XX since she really didn't like the Steve Angello set on Friday. It was different. I liked it, not too too many bangers, but some. Happy it wasn't a cheezy set with old music from years ago. We also saw part of Glass Animals during the day.

Saturday - We saw Future and Martin Garrix. Really enjoyed Martin Garrix with all of the crazy lights in the Sahara tent. Also saw Warpaint (wifey loves those chicks) before Martin Garrix. LIstened to a little Lady Gaga at the end of the night hurt my ears, before heading back to Yuma Tent.

Sunday - Every day we end up going later and later, thus seeing less - Wanted to watch Hans Zimmer, but that stage was wayyyy too packed to be listening to people single "Circle of life" Lion King song. Galantis was prob my favorite set out of Steve Angello, Martin Garrix and Galantis in the Sahara tent. Finished night w/ Kendrick Lamar while I prob sneaked back to Yuma Tent for a bit. I had no clue who was spinning at that point.

Bummed I missed Solomun for one reason or another Also missed Sasha. boooo

I'll be more experienced next time. The parking/transportation/walking situation is the only negatives. (clusterfuck) Iphone said I walked about 8 miles on Friday, 6 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. (learned to use the services of the bicycle taxi and whether its better to leave via the green or yellow path. (Yellow goes to uber / rite aid....green goes through the camping areas to the friends and family/lyft lot) We turned out poolman at the house we were renting into our personal driver to pick us up away from the non moving parking lots, traffic and gridlock.

Did I just write a review on TA ? Feels like its been years. I feel like I'm 20 something again!
