Is Tony De Vit the best dead producer/DJ?
from my research, his residency at Trade was legendary and his productions are just pumping.

Frankie Knuckles
Peter Rauhofer
...I'll let someone else comment on Erick Morillo
Tony De Vit was definitely one hell of a talented producer/DJ in his prime. His beats were sick and his mixes were fire!

There's a generation of clubbers who'll say Avicii or SOPHIE. Don't know if anyone *here* is of that generation, but still...

Whenever Dave Dresden dies he'll be the best dead one.
I found this news article about a Tony De Vit movie documentary in the works
| quote: |
| One of the film's producers Phill Smith told Buzz.ie: "Back in the 90s, the most explosive era in dance music history, one of the world's best DJs met a child prodigy. When the master suddenly died in 1998, his 17-year-old apprentice Fergie was thrust into the music spotlight. Our film Tony de Vit Don't Ever Stop' is the story of tragedy, esctasy, music and mayhem." Tony's still heartbroken sister Jayne Parkes told Buzz.ie: "It's 25 years since Ant left us. A film about him, Dont Ever Stop, will be out sometime this year. This is something that I could never have imagined happening. Its incredible after 25 years he is getting this huge recognition that he so richly deserves." And Jayne added: "The new remixes are such a fitting tribute to Tony. He would have loved it, not that people are honouring him (which I love ) but the fact that a whole new generation of DJs are bringing his music bang up to date. Ant was an innovator and loved progress. And if he is truly to live on we need to pass him on to the next generation who may not of heard of him, but will now search out his original music. |
Let's play an Eternal Rhapsody for Mr. Marino Stephano.

Yes, we are old enough to remember all the way back to 2020.

Philippe van Mullem (Quadran), John Horrocks (Jon Vesta/Amethyst), Caspar Pound, Henrik Klein Rasmussen (Little Jam), Brainbug
Also notable mentions are Gary D (mostly crappy hardstyle in later years but was really good in the 90s) and Tillmann Uhrmacher.
It's always fascinating how talented musicians who create masterpieces decide to commit suicide.
