Latest purchases? (vinyl/digital)
There doesn't seem to have been a thread of this kind in a while, so I thought I'd start a new one.
Shamelessly splurged last week on Discogs:
Electric Indigo - Skyway / No Headroom
Spawn - Infiltrator
303 System - Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde
DJ ESP - The Earthworm Sings
Lenny Dee & Nico - Dark Matter
Acid Galore - Sweet 15 (CD)
Various - Acid Casualty Compilation
Various - Amsterdam Inc.
Sebastian S. & D-Jack - Quadravision
KX Noizsystem - Nanogenetic Millennium (Molecular Muzik For Da Global Teqyo Brotherhood) (CD)
Phlegm - Ashes (CD)
Seekness - Devious Destiny (CD)
DJ Sneak - Blue Funk III
Digital Mushroom - Abyss
Oscar - Analog Rules
Last Rabbit Trace - Rhythm & Glue
KX Noizsystem - Dalai Lama Overdrive
Subexplored - The Puzzled Truth
42 North - Cordless
Fletch303 - Retrotek
Got this (finally) as well:
Automatic Sound Unlimited Tu*4*Bx/0 = E.P.01 + Tu*4*Bx/2 = E.P.02
This isn't specific to you, but do we really need another thread where people just pile up the names of tunes with no context or explanation? There's no discussion on this forum anymore. Everyone just drops YT links or track names like AI tune sharing algorithms.
I was having second thoughts on making this thread, but someone also encouraged me to do it. I thought, after all, we can share the type of music we listen to/collect/spend money on nowadays, instead of just posting individual YT links or releases we like.
Anyway, I'll try to provide some context and explanation.
Most of the stuff I recently bought is oldschool Acid, which I admittedly don't listen to much anymore, but oddly enough still collect. I buy vinyl/CDs only when the release/tracks I want are not available for purchase digitally, which is often the case with older stuff. I'm still compiling the tracks I buy - old and new, different genres - for possible future mixes. Maybe I'll finally put the DJ controller I bought a while back to use for the first time...
I dunno if its wise to gatekeep this forum, it could use any life.
then again, my cd thread turned into a "look at me I bought x things". I didnt think it would be wise to continue it as it was turning into some narcissistic affair. Pacing is key I think.
I've been only buying CDs in person mostly, I like the randomness. I got blessed with some non-mixed compilations recently, although containing non-favorable mixes of the tunes; thats where vinyl is king but I dont have the heart or money to go vinyl.
discovered rumour records, which I would not have came across by if I didnt go thrift shopping. dont know much about them but there seems to be some good chunk of bangers; maybe im easy to please though.
https://www.discogs.com/release/62171-Various-Trance-2
perhaps I chose the wrong track on the compilation but alas, back to my narcissistic affairs I guess.
I enjoyed your thread. We were actually discussing the music.
I'm not saying this thread shouldn't exist, but it would be nice to put a bit more content into it: a bit of context behind what you're buying and why. The other thread was more in that vein.
Alright, Jack, I hear what you're saying. Are you suggesting I give an explanation of why I bought all those individual releases? I mean, I can, if that would make it more interesting.
To be clear, your follow-up post did a good job of giving the context behind your purchases.
I'm guilty of this as well - it feels a bit fruitless making threads on TA these days about specific albums or things because hardly anyone posts at all and most of the time it's just Youtube / Soundcloud links. I try to add a bit of explanation about the stuff in my Trance/Prog Revival thread but it rarely seems to spark much discussion.
Most of what I buy digitally these days is for DJing and I don't like giving away everything I'm finding in advance. The last thing I bought that wasn't a club-oriented release was this gorgeous downtempo acid EP from the Dream Software label. I keep wanting to make a modern day ambient techno/acid mix because I'm finding loads of stuff like this, that could be from 1994 just as easily as 2024. The only trouble with low-tempo stuff is the BPMs vary so wildly it can be quite hard to make a cohesive mix out of it all. I'm toying with the idea of using field recordings / ambient sounds to help with the segues.
Someone needs to have a word with them about that artwork though. Looks like the cover of an educational '90s videogame you'd get free with your cornflakes. Dreadful stuff.
Thanks for sharing, guys.
Just ordered this (again, after selling it years ago when I was selling off my collection): https://www.discogs.com/release/325...-100-Hard-Groov
Bought it mostly for this unreleased, long, crazy hard acid track:
Hope to maybe use it again in some obscure acid mix in the future.
I wanted to continue into the rumour records cd library. I purchased the euphoria unmixed comp cd, its quite good value with some tried and true eclectic cuts.

hmm.
you're right actually.
dont buy the cd; I was assuming it was the full mix.
so from the youtube mix, at 6:40 is where it ends right before the energy ramps. to fully answer your question, its mixable, and there is utility to be had but yea... a bit disappointing and a big fail on my part.
but in reality the cd is still quite good in totality, and good value, I still stand by that. Its missing the cherry for sure.
my apologies

Grabbed this in mint condition for a euro today and immediately thought of sharing my joy on here.
Not an expensive buy on discogs but finding it in a shop mostly dedicated to punk rock records felt so good.
Excellent choices there. Especially 'Om - Instant Enlightenment'. Totally new to me, will have to get a copy myself.

Can't say I really buy into the hype on that Om album. It's doing everything you'd expect from a squelchy acid ambient trance record from 1993 with eye bleeding album artwork, but in the most paint-by-numbers clichd way possible. And it's either very badly mastered or seriously under-produced.
