Covid sucks!

I only had it once, and I worked directly with covid patients in the ICU in the first days of the virus/pandemic. I didn't even get it at work, I got it from going out to a bar when things finally opened up again lol.
I think people (particularly in their 40s and 50s) are going to start seeing just how awful it really is, once they have had it more than 2 or 3 times. It has long lasting, often permament effects on lung function, even in the "healthiest" of people.
I know it's a touchy subject, but vaccines do make a difference in mitigating the severity of the illness and, therefore; the severity of the long term effects. Same with the flu.
Do with that information what you will.
I had it the first time in March of 2021, and a second time two weeks ago. Awful. Both times I had breathing difficulties, which was very scary. Thank G-d I'm feeling better now - I didn't know if I would end up in the hospital or die, G-d forbid. I wonder if the breathing issues were caused by my relatively heavy smoking habbit, which I hope to finally kick by my birthday.
I've had it twice - once in November 2020 before any of the vaccines existed and then again only a week or two after a booster shot in February 2022. I felt almost as bad the second time as the first, but the main long-lasting effect of it was that it trashed my immune system for the rest of 2022. I was literally getting ill once a month and every illness would blow up into something pretty horrible - a sinus infection that made me completely lose smell and taste for two weeks, laryngitis that made me lose my voice for a week, a string of horrible throat infections that climaxed with strep throat so bad it was verging towards scarlet fever by the time I got some antibiotics down me. Eventually I got over this string of misery and I haven't had a proper illness for almost two years now, but that was a fucking grim year.
I've only had Covid once, during my Christmas vacation in 2022. I basically stayed in bed for a few days, avoiding any physical activity, as was the recommendation at the time I think. The two vaccines I had gotten and complete lack of physical activity probably made it pretty easy for me. I think I read a book and watched a bunch of movies. It wasn't the best of times, but nowhere near as bad as I initially feared, and the stillness was actually almost enjoyable. Don't know if this is common or not, but I find having the flu kind of cozy if it's not causing breathing problems or anything too severe. The drifting in and out of sleep on the sofa and catching glimpses of the bad movies you've put on just to keep yourself entertained is bliss.
Regarding the Covid years in general, I still haven't made peace with how the times did a number on some people. I have an acquaintance who became very suspicious towards vaccines in general after his second one. Sometime around 2022 he had minor health problems which he, without any proof, attributed to the Covid vaccine. Last time I saw him he said he had survived on cherry tomatoes and protein shakes for weeks because everything else caused severe flatulence and/or diarrhea. He kept on yammering about Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson, Dan Bilzerian and the likes. He kept moving his eyes weirdly and every now and then just rolling them up and keeping them there. I think I stared at him doing that too long, to which he said "people can stay awake by simply looking up" or something. He also said that cooling your palms during a workout can significantly increase your performance, so he had started holding an ice pack in his hands between sets when working out. Just felt like a total deep-dive into crazy. After some time into our conversation he said the water he's been sipping on during our talk has amphetamine in it and that he does it daily. Normal guy before 2020. I think the isolation, the perceived draconian measures, and the sudden, general shift in everyday life altered some people's psyche quite significantly.
I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Covid itself has given some people minor brain damage, which might explain how fucking insane a noticeable percentage of humanity has become since the pandemic.

I've had it twice but luckily both times were after getting the vaccine so it just felt like a cold that lasted a few days, apart from a cough that stayed annoyingly long.
A few doctors told me that "current" Covid is mild and comparable to a cold. That certainly wasn't the case with me and a couple of other people I know, both of whom went to the hospital. My friend also told me he knew some woman in her 40's who supposedly was immunocompromised and just recently died after getting the virus.
Perhaps if I hadn't done certain sins, it would've been milder for me - G-d only knows. I'm happy and grateful I didn't end up in the hospital or die, though.
I think Covid's taken a chunk out of your brain as well if you're almost 40 years old and you think bad health is punishment for your sins.
My ex wife fought with me over getting vaccines for my children. While we were married, she refused, under the grounds that "they had it before and were fine" and "they're too young, their bodies don't need it yet". But now that we are divorced, I told her I was going to go take them, she protested, but then ultimately couldn't do fuck all about it. Now my babies are at least protected against it. I think her biggest complaint was that she didn't want them to have sore arms or potentially have side effects while they were with her. Lazy bitch.

Smoking may itself be a sin, as it may be causing harm to my body.
Another thing I wanted to say is that what we may consider as bad may actually be Divine good/mercy. We don't know G-d's ways.

Yeah, finally you got it. You had breathing problems during Covid not because heavy smoking fucks up your throat and lungs but because smoking is a sin, and Yahweh was punishing you. It's a game of indulgentia. You're familiar with remission, yes? A donation to a local synagogue never hurt any good Yehudi.

The fact that heavy smoking may mess up one's lungs doesn't contradict that it may be a sin, as well. I don't think you understood me correctly. Obviously if I'm putting garbage down my throat, it may adversely affect my health, whether I'm sinning or not.
My breathing problems during Covid may have been a result of my smoking or perhaps on account of an altogether different sin/sins.
