Love Poundin' Sensation Tisto to Rock a Full-On Trance Set at Dreamstate SoCal 2025

Hi, I haven't posted on here before, but I found this really important, as i'm like Tiesto's biggest fangirl...but ONLY his trance tracks. I know we've all been waiting for something like this to happen, and Tiesto's FINALLY doing a trance-only set at a modern day rave event. Here's the plan guys, show Tiesto support and show up to convince him that WE LOVE TRANCE, and we want this back for good... anyways, here's the link, it's not fake news I promise, it's for real guys!!

holy shit thats unreal..... this is must go guys

imagine hearing suburban train, willow, cloudwalking, sunrise (goldenscan), flesh, sunrise at palamos, silence, supernova (transa), airwave.... i'd die

Posted by RaverGeisha on Sep-26-2025 02:04:

this is insane guys...Paul Van Dyke, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Paul Oakenfold...

Posted by Dj Pluviose on Sep-26-2025 02:34:

Alright girl, first off welcome to trance addict. Dunno how long you've been into trance but welcome anyways. also, thanks for sharing this info. I'm just blown away

this event sounds completely unreal....

Back in the day, when have we ever got Ferry, Tiesto, Oakenfold, PVD, John 00 Fleming, Chicane, Thomas Schumacher, John o Callaghan, I mean GEEZ what a dream lineup.

I can't complain, but some of those no names in there could easily be replaced by: Marusha, Sven Vath, Cosmic Baby, Art of Trance or any Platipus artist, Oceanlab (Above & Beyond), and Armin

Kind of weird how plur trance hasnt developed anyone to replace or succeed the likes of the now 50 years old or older djs like Tiesto, Armin, PvD etc. I would suppose this may be because of the internet and everyone being siloed, but kinda weird that people are waiting on a 56 year old done and dusted dj to occasionally play plur.

I think it's not just trance but music in general. But I think you got it right with the internet and isolation (contrary to what had been promised the internet would bring, ironically and sadly).

It's all about marketing, and the guys established at the top have tons of capital to keep marketing themselves at the top. Some up-and-comer hasn't a hope in hell of competing with that. At best, they may get some viral TikTok flash moments of exposure. Unless they have a ridiculous amount of trust fund financing (or venture capital... or cyptocoin), they'll never compete with the marketing muscle of scene veterans.

Can grassroots, word-of-mouth hype even still exist in this algorithm age?

Posted by RaverGeisha on Oct-20-2025 05:08:

yeah, it's sad... gen z doesn't get how big the OG stars like tieso really were too, because tiktok brainrot has convinced them little celebrities like ice spice are bigger (marketinggggg) lol

will never happen, would be nice but nobody is really playing that kind of stuff, you'd have to find a classics only night and hope to god some random dj will can it out

tiesto is having the time of his life rolling with the likes of john summit and playing junk like that

however you'll get the odd big names digging the crate, like I've heard Marsh play some classics he's remixed (White Room, etc) live and one-off classics like Xpander.

the other day i heard Braxton play a mostly original/edit of Bloodlock by Sasha and it was UNREAL

every couple of years people get excited about Tiesto playing trance lol. I guess im not mad at it , if it gets people out , and I can't tell people what to get excited for. Nostalgia does play a factor.

Reminisce on your own, relive it with friends, share it for noobs.

Getting older, I'm learning to perceive the past with affection rather than nostalgia.

Difficult as it is, it makes aging so much more pleasant.

Since you mentioned Magik 6.... this came out in recent years. Lots of interesting stuff. Such as certain tracks that Tijs played live, that was cut from the CD, left some fans speculating. Magik 6 was so great, along with Magik 7. Actually, the entire Magik series was great imo. in any case, this is the actual raw friend footage of Tiesto mixing Magik 6 live, the exact one for the CD.

i never believed in nostalgia, always knew that if something was good, it's always gonna be good. nostalgia is such a lame term millenials used for everything to dismiss anything good from the past.

haha but I think this time may be an actual different one, compared to the last recent 10 years

are you gen z? how is it possible we have little girls around here. i thought this forum was for "old mfs" lol. either way, gen z tends to embrace old stuff more open minded more than Gen Y at times. (despite some of them not even being born yet). either way, let's spread our senior citizen EDM with all the young generation...... just not the Tiesto way by making "Big Room Trouse" like he did in the 2010s...

I found some uploads at soundcloud, all not the best quality. Will check out the youtube links, hoping for some old recorder from back in the days uploads a really high quality version. I'd don't mind getting back to the DC++-hub to get it :-D

Man you're from Amsterdam, definitely Tijs needs to "come home" and play proper trance for his fellow dutch again, doesn't he?! Personally, I am having high hopes for 2026. He played trance twice this year. Back at EDC, if you missed it, he played an "In Search of Sunrise 2025" set at EDC earlier this year. That's two times he played trance sets. After much support, I think he may come back for 2026 my friend. Stay hopeful.

I'm from the Netherlands, not everything over here is Amsterdam :-)

I read about his EDC set. Was delighted to find this set, his latest clublife episode and this EDC-set. Brings me back to my years in Groningen (also the Netherlands ;-)) when I went to his gig in The Palace overthere and just occasionally talked to him after he finised his set and stayed for drinks along with the rest of the audience.

Cannot imagine he would be doing this these days :-)

No way, you drank with him? He must've been very young at the time. Yeah, he'd never do that nowadays.

you also mentioned a club life set he did, was it trance recently?

Posted by arjoderoon on Nov-25-2025 09:45:

Yes, I did.

This is the link to the club life episode:
https://www.1001tracklists.com/trac...2025-11-21.html

Starts with Push - Universal nation.

He starts his return with the same track he started his breakthrough with. Full circle moment.

Also this episode includes insigma -open your eyes.
Such a fantastic track.

Thank you my friend. That's 3 times he's done trance this year. We can only hope he goes hard at it again in 2026

Posted by r5a on Nov-26-2025 07:29:

ok

i thought i might have made a gross overstatement earlier in the thread but i still stand by it

i looked at the dreamstate Dj Pluviose posted and went through the tracklist

boys. he's grasping at straws. he's playing "2025" remixes of classics that were awesome. still, these remixes sound horrendous and flat, and he wont commit to just playing the original shit because he knows he has to cater to the gen/z & millennials that literally give 0 fucks. It just comes across as so try-hard and inauthentic from my perspective.

set was a snoozer and not even worth it. if he was coming by to play i wouldn't even consider it with whats out there now.

dude just needs to retire at this point tbh, he's cooked

to give you a perfect example

cloud 69

the original has a dope banjo hook that's got two parts, its overlayed with the leads and synth and then it's also isolated to itself to highlight it.

the version he plays gives no respect to the original melody and synth, its just terrible. all you hear is the the 4/4 "2025" edition with maybe a bit of the original element but its clear this is just to make sure everyone rolling can keep their damn feet in a pattern

yeah dude I feel it too. lots of people on reddit were praising it saying it was perfectly modernized, and anyone expressing legitimate critique (like what you said), even some "older fans" were slamming down any criticism saying that "old boomer trance heads will never be satisfied"

my personal thoughts on the set is similar. just what. the. FUCK did he do to Suburban Train. and lots of tracks were shortened. my friends who went were not amused that these tracks were cut down to 2-3 minutes.

but there was some good ones. in my opinion I really liked the remake he did on Electronic Malfunction. he added some acid in the tracks buildup which was really nice.

some people believed without a doubt that there is no way you could play the originals in their original form, due to how "old" it sounds, it may clash or sound outdated. but I disagree. the classics still hold up in today's stage setting. take a look at Universal Nation in 2019 in its original form

Posted by Swamper on Nov-26-2025 21:32:

Like it or not, Tiesto is a major influence/player and what he does gets attention. He can't just go out there playing out the original long ass tracks with huge buildups and not lose part of the audience! The kids can't handle that Full-On Trance experience just yet, you have to ease them in that direction

Posted by Dj Pluviose on Nov-26-2025 22:30:

making a correction to a previous statement, apparently this is a new remade version of "Electronic Malfunction" from his Nyana CD, but it's been modernized (I would say in a good way). It has some delicious 303 acid in it, and it still sounds mostly like the original. there's an extended mix as well. so tiesto did not remake it like he remade Universal Nation, it seems this CIRA96 and DJ Ton T.B. were in on it.

Agreed. there was some "compromise" at stake here. if this could be the stepping stone to go where it needs to be, then I'm pretty excited to see 2026. hopefully
