Indeed there are so many great records from Eye-Q.
Most of these tracks are now timeless Trance classics.

Vernon - Vernon's Wonderland (1993)

Brainchild - Symmetry (C-Mix) (1994)

Energy 52 - Caf Del Mar (DJ Kid Paul Mix) (1993)

Virtual Symmetry-Loro and Nostro

Timeless tracks that aren't what most people associated Eye Q with at the time. I couldn't help but thinking Guerilla were probably extremely jealous not to be able to sign an a record like this lol.

I picked this up from Spacehall last time I was in Berlin with high hopes, but I was actually pretty disappointed with it, considering the names involved. Even the 10+ minute Underworld remix was lacklustre.

strange, I had you pegged as someone who would enjoy these sounds. not even the speedy j remix?

I just had a re-listen and yeah, I'm not sold. It's just a bit too melodramatic, the early '90s techno-acid-trance fusion (ahem) but veering into being overcooked.

Just shows how tastes differ, I suppose. The names involved are all absolutely legendary. I think they just didn't have great source material to remix.

hmm yea I see what you getting at, not gonna lie I dont know too much about the label outside the biggest hits, but I was happy to find this cd for a few dollars.

another from the comp which I really dig.

When SJ dislikes something, I try to pick his brain and see where he's coming from. The Underworld Remix and Speedy J Remix are two of the most decent tracks in the mix. The Underworld Remix is pumping and bass heavy, but they didn't have much to work with in terms of the original mix. The Speedy J Remix would be a nice track to build up a set, nothing more nothing less.

Obligatory call outs. My all time favs on the label:

Just curious, you didn't like Summer frequency? Seemed to be the standout on the vinyl.

yea I more or less agree with System J's assessment, the names are oversold a bit, not everything though, the b-zet ambient mix and the hardfloor remix are highlights for me, though when I see a 1995 ambient acid prog house techno cd in the wild for a few dollars I get a large boner, unmixed to boot.

edit tmi, sry mat.

Oh no, I love Summer Frequency. It's usually my go-to track from the release. Just felt more inclined towards Sun Down on the day. They are both f#cking awesome. Amazing how these early 90s releases from Eye Q somehow remain unmatched to this day.

Just learned that the two tracks were the only release from The Volunteers, until they released this Tribute To Stevie-B-Zet EP last year, and that DJ Dag was one half of the production due.

PS. How does one embed videos on this site? Everyone else is doing it but my links just show up as URL.

On Youtube, click the share button and choose the embed option. Then just copy paste that embedded code in your posts.
