Popular artists from your region or country

Without getting too specific about the actual city or town, who are some popular local artists from your country? Outside of Europe, Eurodance was was huge in Canada in the 90's. Some of the hottest names were Capital Sound and Emjay whose tracks achieved notable charting success locally.

That's a good distinction to make. I meant more like Alice who blew up where they grew up without moving elsewhere during their career.

I heard he has strong historical ties to Toronto as a dj dating back to the 90's. Wow.

Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez, Junior Vasquez, Masters at Work, David Morales, The Martinez Bros, Sofi Tukker, Razor N Guido, and (unfortunately) The Chainsmokers are probably the best-known names out of the NYC area. There's also Todd Edwards, based out of NJ but still the NYC metro.

Where I specifically live, not so much electronic music around. Though I live like within a mile from Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister fame.

I don't listen to 70's music, but I could see why he's so famous based on his songs.

Your post is invaluable considering how rich NYC's history is. I know the first 5 names here, but it's obvious the other artists are popular as well.

As far as trance goes, Tritonal are from Austin, Texas.

Austin's claim to fame is it's the music capital of the world. So outside of trance, there's a long list of musicians who have called the city home, such as Janis Joplin, Willie Nelson, and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

No wonder people say everything is bigger in Texas. I guess some of these names are not only famous locally but globally as well, which is normal.
