I think you'll have a hard time finding a job as a waiter (not speaking Dutch). But you can always register yourself at an employment agency and hope they got something...

I worked with loads of foreign people at the Rai (COnvention Centre) and Arena (Ajax stadium). I'm sure if you go to Amsterdam it won't be a problem. Also think of Irish pubs etc. Amsterdam needs English speaking people really, as in the centre, probably most restaurants are visited by tourists anyhow!
If I were you, I'd prepare myself by emailing Tempo Team employment agency: [email protected] (the rest all have online contact forms in Dutch). And maybe search for a few lower class hotels, and email them. If you don't try..you won't buy!

I saw an add in a tourist paper yesterday about www.undutchables.nl This is an employment agency, especially for foreigners wanting to work in The Netherlands. Good luck!!
btw www.undutchables.com is also a good website. The book (The Undutchables) is very funny. Full of stereotypes!

i was given the link to that website when i went to study in amsterdam. the city has tons of irish bars, also australian bars, i knew an aussi girl who didnt speak a word in dutch who worked at a pub, so its definately possible. i've also seen postings at employment agencies looking for for english speakers for international call centers. its definately difficult, especially if youre from outside EU, but it can be done
