Scissor & Thread is cut from a different cloth than your average dance imprint. Patterned more like an indie label, Scissor and Thread is focused on developing artists and providing them a platform for ambitious ideas that expand beyond the confines of the club without regard for stylistic orthodoxy. The label's roster is comprised of a tight knit collective of multi-talented composers, producers, vocalists and instrumentalists collaborating in various configurations on a diversity of projects stitched together only by Scissor and Thread's well defined aesthetic.

In an effort to expose audiences to the depth of the artistry in techno, minimal, and house, Nadia Podolsky�s VOLATL Events has booked a myriad of genre-defining artists including Stacey Pullen, Bruno Pronsato, Adam Beyer, Camea, Carl Craig and more. VOLATL has produced dozens of memorable events in Chicago, Detroit, New York, and Miami with an avant-garde approach to sound arrays and bookings. Most recently, VOLATL launched the bi-monthly (re)Chicago event with Mazi and Kate Simko, produced �Something in the Sky,� a conceptual event with Jeff Mills and Mike Banks, and co-produced �Superfreq Chicago� featuring acid house pioneer Mr. C, which was featured in TimeOut Chicago.
A newly reinvigorated VOLATL Events awaits Chicago in 2013 and beyond. The Scissor & Thread Label night will re-brand the agency as the midwest pioneer in large scale A/V production, lighting and staging - modeled after legendary underground parties in New York, London, Berlin and beyond.
