Because Bush is white
white people are respected, while black people, unfortunately, not so much. Not so much especially if you're from the South.
If you thought the birthers, deathers, and Nazi-comparers weren't enough, this is what else the Republican party has to offer. Amazing that this is happening in the US, until recently one of the most civil and polite societies in the world.
BTW: how would you react if someone personally insulted you, by saying directly to your face: "You lie"? Say, on the street, at work, or in school? This actually happened to me once in the workplace. A colleague verbally assaulted me in a direct way. I really felt myself losing control and a fight could easily have escalated. This is a very dangerous thing to say to a person's face.

I fear that the answer has to do with race. As much as it pains me to say it, a white Congressman feels less restrained in publicly shouting down a President (with a capital "P") if that person's skin color is black.
Think about it: would this ever happen if the President was white? Would people act a little more restrained? |
First, let me start by saying what that SC representative did was stupid and I don't agree at all calling shit out like that (even though he was right- Obama was lying that illegal immigrants won't be covered). He issued an apology already, but that doesn't excuse the disrespect.
BUT... It is beyond sickening to see how much the Left is crying "racism" now about everything. It's not possible for anyone to disagree with Obama's policies without it being about race? Grow the fuck up! It's constantly the Democrats that are injecting race into things, not Republicans. Racism was the reason Obama's Harvard buddy was arrested. White angst, claims Charlie Rangel, is to blame for him getting busted by the IRS for his tax evasion. Racism, as Governor Patterson of NY claims, is the reason for his deep unpopularity... not his awful political skills. Racists in the right wing are upset because poor people are about to be helped, says Jerimiah Wright (from his golf course mansion?). Americans are cowards about discussions of race, says attorney general Eric Holder. Green Jobs czar Van Jones claims he was done in by a smear campaign. Paul Krugman says racist motives are at the heart of Obamacare opposition. Black journalist Cynthia Tucker says 45-65% of Americans who protest are racists. The guy who made the Obama as the Joker posters was a racist (until it was uncovered he was Middle Eastern and a Dennis Kucinich supporter... shhhh). Black MSNBC anchor (forgot his name) says "socialist" is really a code word for the "N" word. Black CA Democrat Rep. Diane Watson said the GOP doesn't want to support Obamacare because "he looks like me," and then went on to praise Fidel Castro's leadership (this is the same woman to referrs to D.C. as "Chocolate City" and blasted Ward Connerly for marrying a white woman).
As very nicely stated by professor Victor Davis Hanson:
quote: | What we are seeing is a very unfortunate turn of events in which racism is now the guaranteed retreat position once many prominent African-American elites find themselves in controversy. The problem is that the rest of the population of all races and classes looks at this privileged cohort and does not really detect bias or ill-treatment in their past or present circumstances, but rather remarkable tolerance and race-blind attitudes, as exemplified by their career successes. |
What's cowardly is turning to racism at every dissent. Fucking pathetic.

I agree racism has nothing to do with the issues. Republicans aren't angry for racist reasons, I'll buy that.
But we're not talking about the issues here, we're talking about respect and decorum. I contend that, all else being equal, a white person gets more respect than a black person. And someone who would restrain themselves in addressing a white person is likely to feel less so when addressing a black person.
Look, I remember how Bush was also heckled by the Democrats during the war. But if you remember, he was always given a polite forum in this country. Even liberals showed respect for the office of the presidency at that time.
This is the first time in my life I bring up racism. I've never done it before, when talking about this President. But my hunch is that, just like tall people "tower over" shorter people and feel entitled to act slightly superior to them, so do lighter-skinned people subconsciously feel superior to darker-skinned people and feel as if they can "loosen up" a bit. This is a very well documented phenomenon.

So we're clear, Wilson said Obama lied about his health plan not covering illegal immigrants.
What's your argument? |
Simple... the report by the Congressional Research Service from the other day. Evidently, their reports do not get released to the public and give private analysis to Congress on request. But David Freddoso of the San Francisco Examiner got his hands on a copy and shared it with Mark Tapscott from the Wash. Examiner, and exposed Obama's lie.... which is that although it doesn't specifically say illegals will be covered, it certainly (and purposefully) does not prevent them from obtaining it. Read on:
quote: | Under H.R. 3200, a Health Insurance Exchange would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option. H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzenswhether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanentlyparticipating in the Exchange.
In its subsection on health insurance subsidies (known as affordability credits), HR 3200 does state, Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States. That would seem to solve the problem, but its more rhetoric than reality. The bill contains no verification requirement or enforcement process for citizenship or legal residency, as exists for other federal benefit programs. The only verification required for the subsidies pertains to family income. Beyond that, as the CRS report notes, everything is left in the hands of the Health Choices Commissioner.
House Democrats defeated all attempts in committee to add an enforcement mechanism that would require proof of citizenship or legal residency for those getting subsidies.
CRS also notes that undocumented aliens who have a substantial presence in the US would be required to buy health insurance (page 4) through the exchanges in HR3200. They would also become eligible for emergency Medicaid, although not normal Medicaid (page 6) for up to five years.

Or you can read the actual 11 page CRS report here:

Lie exposed.
Edit: It's also precarious that he's now using the figure "30 million uninisured" when he's been saying 46/47 million up to this point. Could that be so he can try and claim illegals won't be covered now (rhetorical question)?
