Sons of Aurora - Progressive & Full-On Psytrance Mix

I know this is not a psy forum, but what the hell, maybe someone on here will enjoy this.

=)

Psytrance Promo 2007 - Motion Notion
Mixed by: Sons of Aurora
Mixed and Recorded: Jan 2007
Genre: Progressive & Full-On Psytrance
Length: 1:18:22

LISTEN / DOWNLAOD HERE:

http://www.area709.com/soa/music/mix/117/

Description:

This is the first installment in our three part Sons of Aurora promotions package we are sending out for the 2007 season. Although regrettably not a live recording, we feel this mix best portrays the sounds we love when ripping it up in front of a crowd while under the open skies. We chose to remix this selection and add a new ending in the hope that although the tracks are not super fresh, the mix as a whole will give promoters an idea of what we consider to be our favorite progressive and full-on psytrance sounds.

Tracklist:

1. Beat Bizarre - Booger Launcher
2. Shakta - Into The Light
3. Etic - Touch Ups
4. Beat Bizarre - Pests for Pets
5. Tetraktys - Stoned Immaculate

7. Beat Bizarre - Eavesdrop Pop

Reviews:

Ill say it once , Ill say it twice.. and maybe a few more times after: That was one of ze bests sets i've heard... eva. You guys were super that night. - Nadine

Three key parts of this set that I absolutely love. The slow start, which makes me imagine people just swaying from side to side like blades of grass in the wind. This is in contrast to the moments around the 68 and 100 minute marks that just about give me an aneurysm every time I listen. You guys did a fantastic job pacing the set. I've heard relentless full-on sets that have left me numb after 20 minutes, but this one turns up the heat at the perfect moments and just leaves me blown away. I'll probably anticipate your next set at more than the headliner next year at Motion Notion, unless Katalyst happens to land Shpongle - Anonymous

Sons Of Aurora, amazing set. Since I made the journey from Winnipeg City to Motion Notion this summer, I've always acknowledged your set as one of the finest that weekend. So, I was incredibly pleased to find out that it was available online! Awesome set!! It reminds me so much of that wonderful weekend at Motion Notion this past summer... Keep on rockin' in the psy world..... - Chris (aka lo progression)

Hey guys! I just wanted to tell you how I was blown away by your set at Motion Notion and your 'tag' with Moontribe afterwards. It was amazing! I know my friend e-mailed you guys already, it's was his first rave ever and you helped make it a truly unforgettable experience. We are both huge fans now and it's exciting to know there is such great talent coming out of our home town! Have listened to the Motion Notion mix and the Shambhala mix and I can't stop! Thanks again for sharing your talent and love with us at Motion Notion. Take care and keep making great music! - Tyler

Darvin and Norris, What can I say but thank you for making Motion Notion for me. You guys kicked some serious ass with your tunes and mixing, such a nice buildup, slowly starting off the set getting everyone warmed up. The whole time I was thinking oh my god, these guys are building to something insane! And you did not disappoint, there were times on the dance floor I was just blown away, the builds and breakdowns were so good! At times I just wanted to scream out my appreciation, but I had no air in my lungs from dancing so hard, those moments I opened my mouth in stunned appreciation. And that track with the evil laugh before the music dropped into insanity was absoulutely sick! We who saw you that night (or any night for that matter) are truly blessed to have you guys playing music for us! Thank you thank you thank you! - Craig.

Well I am in fact surprised, pleasantly, to see psy has a few takers here at tranceaddict. =)

Sorry about my never posting direct dl links. The last time I did that, I had over 30 gigs of traffic in one month, and I can't afford that... so to limit the listeners I make it take a few more clicks to get the music.

DannyO, if you hit the link on my post it takes you to the mix page on my site, where you can then click the listen button and right away when the custom player opens up it gives you the option to save to your computer.

I would like to ask that if anyone listens to this mix, can you let me kow if you think that the kick and bass levels are correct... I just bought a pair of mackie hr824 monitors and now when I listen to the mix in my car it sounds super flat in the low end... possibly my ears are messed up due to my new monitors.

There are definitely a few psy lurkers on here... I know Glassball and I are not lurkers, we are prolly two of the more prominent psy dj's on TA..

Great monitors BTW. I have a set of Alesis 820DSP's so I should be able to give you an accurate indication of how kicks/bass is for ya..

Will post back after a few listens.

Just a quick note.. I am only 2:30mins in and yes, I can definitely hear that it's flat.. Almost no Mid/High.. But will still listen in it's entirety.

No Mid / High!! Ugh, that's completelly opposite of what I was worried about.... so to you it sounds bass/low end heavy?

On my monitors it sounds totally fine, but in my car I have to boost the bass which I have never had to do with a mix before. After speaking with my partner Norris, he said it may simply be because my ears are now acustom to my monitors, which have significantly more low end presence than my old montiors, hence making my car seem weaker when in fact that is not the case. Norris downloaded it last night and said it sounds fine on his monitors which has been using for about a year (Tapco's).

Bloody hell I have spent more time eqing this mix than we did mixing it!!

I'm only 10 minutes in but the sound seems fine, I can't give an accurate review of the sound though as right now I'm listening to it on the JVC Bazooka Boombox, but I'll play it threw my DJ setup later and will be able to tell what it really sounds like, but so far it seems fine.

Oh and congrats on the new monitors, those are serious business.

Well, as for sound quality.. it's not that the high/mid's are non-existant.. but yea, I do still think the set is a bit bass heavy..

For some reason it is sounding alot better today while I listen than it did last night?? Maybe it didn't sound right last night as I had just got off the decks myself and my hearing may have been a bit off? lol..

*sits here for 5 mins and listens*... Yea, It does sound ALOT better today.. .. I must have been loosing my marbles last night..

PS: I am still rocking your chill out set from Shambhala 06..
