CDs that have not matched your expectations...

I really liked Safri Duo before, when they made Played-A-Live. I still like that track. Really.
So I was really excited about their new album. Then I heard All the people in the world. It's nearly enough to make you cry.

Crystal Method - Legion of Boom

From Tweekend to Community Service (God, what the hell?) to their most recent release.

Damn it. I loved Vegas and Tweekend.

I was very disapointed with Faithless's first album, I was expecting tracks like Insomnia, The album only had two good songs on it, But the rest was all crap.

+1 on that, what the? With the number of artists that collaborated with them on these tracks they could have done better...

I also have to say Ferry Corsten - "Right of Way"

I wasn't too impressed by this, I guess I was expecting more songs along the lines of "Punk" and "RYBR" with the big dirty filtered sounds, but a lot of the album was just boring.

Amen to that, though my version of it had two good remixes as well. Is their second album better?

Crystal Method have had some AMAZING singles. I could not get into Legion of Boom either... I tried, really hard -- but it was like a cut-and-paste job on a lot of loops without any of their usual sinewy flare. The repeated hooky samples which before were used to great effect, kind of bored me here... like I expected something "more" out of Rahzel working with them! I know it's not just me getting old and jaded either

Sorry to Scott and Ken but I'm still looking forward to the next album you guys put out! I will NEVER forget "Keep Hope Alive", esp. its parallel to crackdown on raves.

You know, I'm just going to have to face the fact that there are many great Electronic Dance Music singles, but great Artist Albums (of original works and not DJ mixes -- although something like Sasha's Involver prompts way for new hybridization) on the whole are rare in proportion. The Prodigys of the world who can have both strong singles and strong albums are comparatively rare.

Oh... you know what got me down? I really liked that Benny Benassi "Satisfaction" thing AND the video too, but stretched over the course of an entire album -- I could not stomach that.

Hey, I'm with you there. Their use of live percussion bangin' with trance sounds is really, really exciting and must be exciting to watch live on stage too. Alas . . .

(I presume you're referring to Sunday 8 PM) If you're only expecting tracks like Insomnia, no. The only tracks that come close to Insomnia in style on their 2nd album are God is a DJ and Take the long way home.

Their third album Outrospective also contains only two of those tracks, We come 1 and Tarantula. Same for the upcoming fourth album No Roots (don't know if there are exactly two 'dance tracks' on them).

But keep in mind Faithless is not just a dance act.
