[prog trance] IDarkISwordI - 99 Degrees (original mix)

Hey. I made a new track. I'm probably going to add on to the end of this track and make a club mix but this is the original. This took 5 hours to produce yesterday but it turned out well . I'd like to hear some suggestions on how to maybe improve the original and maybe some suggestions on what should be done to make it more club like (though I want to keep it on the progressive side of trance).

-FLStudio 5
-FM7
-Korg Legacy Cell
-Custom Samples
-140BPM

IDarkISwordI - 99 Degrees (original mix)

Cheers,
Zac

This track is a real big step forward in the progressive trance side mate!! Love the melodies and the atmosphere. I'm waiting on the club mix of this one...if there is one in the mier future. DSE rules!!!!!!

Heya,

Kick is lacking in depth I think. Sounds very 808-ish which can be good but feels a bit minimal. The clap isnt really working for me either but after a while it seems to fit the track.

Progression is really nice, very blissful stuff, great soundscapes. I dont listen to much progessive, but this is really nice.

not really my choice of progressive soundscapes. could use some eqing and mastering. Try working with the rythms a bit more, seems too simple for prog. The melodic instrumentation and such gets a bit muddy sometimes, but overall is ok. The track is really minimal in nature but i do like that melodic line around the 4min mark that continues till 4:36, the bleaping fill is cool too(4:36).
keep it up.

Thanks for the posts.

@Axolotyl - The kick does need a little more work. I listen to tracks like Closer Now and here a fairly noticeable click.

@iloop - Not sure what you meant by it getting muddy. I've listened to the track lots of times and know of no where that its muddy so if you could post some time marks of where you think it is muddy, that would be great .

With the comments about it being minimal, I suppose you coudl say it somewhat is but minimal songs tend to lack a consistent kick. No sure, I tend to keep my tracks a little minimal though because adding too much more in over what is there other than effects and maybe a longer drum pattern. I plan on maybe adding some vokes, possibly just solo long tones but who knows.

Cheers,
Zac

This is pretty good. And it does sound like fm7 fo'sho. Not too bad tough. I like the beeping. More efx plx. I agree that it is a bit simple. But if that's what you like why not I guess.

The percs do sound a little weak like someone said earlier. But it's okay.

Keep working at it. It's hard to make good music.

The melodies could use some work. They're unique for sure. But they make me unconfortable. I really like it in a weird way.

Sorry for the useless review. But I think it has potential. Keep it up.
