I think what he MEANT to say, is that the idea of mermaids perhaps came from the fishy snatch of teh woman. Although a unique idea, it's not true..

Desperate sailors way back in the day of pirates saw manittees and thought they were bueatiful women swimming along side the ship in shallower waters, (look up the sea cows, you'll see the flippers ) They musta been into "full figured women." or else they'd been at sea for a long LONNNNGG time.
