Does your production gets better if you are drunk or high (basically on something)?

in my case it does help big time i think. it takes it to the next level. my brain overloads with ideas and solutions to the point that i just stop and go woh so thats how they do it..i could play live none stop for 30 min and don't even have to worry about what note i'm ganna hit next..

problem: if you make your tunes drunk/ high, they sound good. if you listen to them sober, they sound bad.

solution: stay high

I think here was already a thread about that topic some month ago

Ugh, no, being drunk or high only makes you think that the track doesn't suck. You're fooling yourself but you won't fool anybody else.

Drunk may actually be worse because you don't always realize later on that you produced crap. If you're high you just forget everything you were thinking and feeling the previous day, but the emotional attachment to a new track seems to persist through a drunken hangover, causing people to insist that the track is fine, and that in general they produce better tunes while drunk.

There's no limit to the human capacity for self-delusion, but have mercy on the rest of us and produce your tunes with a clear head.

I've never been able to produce anything worthwhile when drunk.

Definitely sober.

When I'm drunk it's always poor, and when I'm stoned I just can't be arsed to produce anything anyway.
Never produced on E or anything other drug, as I don't tend to do that stuff at home on my own, but hey it might be an experience.

everytime I'm drunk and I listen to a track I've been working on in a pre-drunk state of mind, I immediately want to slow it down, the music always seems to be going too fast.

Hence the reason I listen to blues when I'm drinking lol.

The only drug I'll do on my own is hash. Tried producing on my own on E and it was shit (the experience and the music). It would maybe be alright in a big studio with a few of you all doing E, but still not a good habit to get into.

Same goes for ganj I reckon, alright now and again. I don't drink at all, I love being T-Total. Feels awkward at the start of the night but then I look around at everyone later/next day and to be frank, I feel pretty smug.

You *could* have a few drinks, and just not get completely plastered... the only time I can remember being really hung over was after an office party where they had wine in tiny little plastic cups so it was impossible to keep track of how much you were drinking.
