My Thoughts in a Nutshell

In my opinion coming up with a nice chilling song like “in your loving arms” is a lot harder then a harder trance song..again I’m ganna point out to in your loving arms because in my opinion its one of the greatest songs of 2005-2006. even though its not so complex like songs you hear these days it still take you in an incredible journey. I think accomplishing something like that with the vocal working as the main lead is far greater then copycatting other trance songs..like what we’re hearing everyday..songs don’t need to be complex to give you the same feeling..i think one of the problems of why trance is becoming shit now (in my opinion) is because people just go after the technical aspect of the song and they forget about the most important part which is the mood that it puts you in..(if you can’t feel connected to your own song how could you expect others to do so?)..using 200 delays on top of each other and randomizing notes is the easy way out in my opinion..you could say you have mastered and undersood the concept of music when you understand how to construct melodies in a way that they tell a story and when you are able to give the same mood to your song that you had in mind..

p.s. I didn’t meant using delays and randomizing your notes in your songs sounds bad or it’s a bad idea..i just think its being over used and there is nothing special about it.

Cheers.

The musical aspect and the technical aspect of producing music are one, therefore you can't get away with either one of them being bad.

true but what i was trying to say was since everything is going vertual..people go all out with crazy fx and other unnecessarily things that that are just add ons in songs and forget about the most important part which is making a decent lead/s (melody)..i think if you could make a lead that people would remember you could say you did a fairly good job..

i like the 1990-2000 music cuz the muisc was based 90% on the lead and then the other things..i think music today has lost it track and its going in a different direction. which is okey..but its a shame to see no one is trying to go for the old school style anymore..

hmmm, i don't really understand what you are trying to say...

i know plenty of current day tunes that have catchy melodies.
i think people have always gone all out with FX and stuff, maybe you're just beginning to be aware of it?

i think you should post an example of a current day tune that doesn't meet your standards.

and old school stuff ... lol, it wouldn't be old school if it was the sound of today.

sorry, i'm just a little confused.

lol i'm too lazy to post songs but basically songs that are made out of bunch of arps with notes flying around with tons of delay on them looping throughout the whole song..thats just my opinion though..i'm sure many will disagree with me..i'm not generalizing new age trance..i actually like alot of the newer songs better..i'm basically saying some trance songs (styles) which are popular now are constructed poorly and because they're easier to produce (to some extend) more producer go for them..as for in the older days due to the lack of technology people were forced to be creative..does that make sense? lol
