Cubase SX 3 - Send display modes - where are they?

According to the manual, there should be a send display mode selector near the channel sends. However, mine seem to be mysteriously missing. Is there something I'm not getting?

Click on that circled 'E' to the right of where it reads Kick 1. That will pop-up a window for Instrument Channel Settings.

It's so damn time consuming compared to Logic it's annoying! ... i hope Cubase 4 has sorted some of these issues!

It's not time consuming if you keep the mixer open like 99% of sane people who use Cubase.

i usually close the mixer.. it only takes 1 second to press f3 and get it back.

setting up a sidechain does take like 2 minutes but its not that bad. i just made a template that has 2 sidechains set up already, one waves c1-sc for bass and one compadre beat puncher for stereo things, i set up a voxengo crunchessor stereo side chain sometimes too for drums. really doesnt take long.

Yes - the joy of 24" 1920x1200 display... but even when I was working with the measly 1280x1024 I still kept it open, just behind the other windows.

When I had dual monitors, I thought it was completely necessary to have 2 mixers open on the 2nd monitor in order to have a steady workflow. After switching to a 20" widescreen, I realize I was wrong. Now, I never have my mixer open unless 1) I'm doing a mixdown or 2) I just loaded an instrument and need to do quick levels/processing. During composing, it's closed and I'm happy.

That's nice, but I consider it good practice to manage EQ and levels (not to mention various effects) during that "composition" phase, not to save it as an afterthought. I've never perceived "mixdown" as being a distinct workflow stage, unless you're strictly talking about the final bounce, which doesn't make use of the mixer anyway.

To each his own, though. There are no right answers, just whatever works for you.
