Ive recently stumbled across the joys of breakbeat, and listened to and downloaded some awesome Breaks sets off this forum, but its not your typical 'hands in the air' type of set that is normally heard in clubs and venues.
Im really looking to produce something in the 'way out West' style - and was wondering

a)who actually spins these tracks?
b)Are they widely played in clubs - if so, which?
c)Is it really a boisterous market?

a) krafty kutz, the stanton warriors, general midi, liquid todd (depends on the type of breaks.. WOW might be more like prog-breaks.. but still.
b) not much.. edm'ers dont seem to like breaks. i think they remind people of hip/hop too much.
c) I can't tell you for sure, I dont have any breaks dj friends.

Progressive Breaks is a great genre. I love to mix it in with Progressive House/Tech House.

Digital Witchcraft - Fingerpaint (Original Mix) is a perfect example of Progressive Breaks and also is one of my faves.

Balance 006 Mixed By Anthony Pappa disc 1. Progressive Breaks doesn't get much better than that.

That one and "Hybrid Presents: Y4K" are my favorite breaks cds.

Drum & Bass DJ Friction is experimenting along the lines of stanton warriors & krafty kuts. He has a mix cd out sometime september entitled "this way up" which i've had a couple of weeks and it's very nice

I can't beleive I forgot to mention the kings of prog-breaks..

Oh yeah, Drummatic Twins are badass. I should've put down too.

Breaks have seem to lost the subtlety somewhere along the way as well. Nowadays it all seems to be that nu-skool guff that's really quite dull. Prog breaks seems to have died a bit and that's a shame.

That being said, there's this mix in my sig...
