Vega - Yearmix 2008 part 1: Sunny side up [various house]
Well, being the currently unemployed bum with too much free time on his hands that I am, I decided to put that free time to a good use. In this case, making a kickass yearmix, or at least trying to. Not really original, I know, but then again it seemed like a challenge to select only a couple of tracks out of the huge pile I acquired in the course of 2008. The original plan was to select 30 or so tunes for a 3 hour mix, but I soon realised there was just too much great music released, and I found myself omitting tracks that I still really wanted to include. So I decided to make things more easy and split them up in two separate mixes with 30 tracks each: the first with the more laidback records, and the second deeper and more progressive oriented.
Today I finished part 1, called Sunny Side Up. The first half of the mix mainly consists of melodic techhouse, while the second half ventures into housy territory. I tried to put a certain flow and buildup in the mix, which wasn't always easy considering the musical range and variety of the selected tracks. I think I more or less succeeded in doing that, but I'll let you be the judge of that

This looks delicious, just like your 'Dark Desires' mix. Expect a comment on that one this weekend, I've been listening to it in the car but haven't finished it yet.
I'll get back to you on both sets as soon as I can...I have so much to listen to and much less time

BTW, Tigerskin - The holy grail (Vintage dub) [Mood Music] is one of my favorite tracks of 2008.
Alright man, so I finally finished listening to this mix about an hour ago and I must say that I absolutely loved it. This is one of the better sets I've heard recently. The track selection was spot on, it's exactly the sound that I have come to know in 2008. Mixing was super tight (from what I noticed) and the programming overall was superb. I mean I don't know if everyone will like this, but like I said this is exactly the sound that I like right now, so it really appealed to me.
All I have to say at this point is that I am really looking forward to your next set.
