What a knob jockey. Needs to move over into rap rather than techno.

not really...

alex 'omar' s is the real deal. this guy works at ford and then makes tracks / produces / masters and runs a record label out of his house and leaves to play all over the world on weekends. a lot of his music is rather great too.

he emails you the tracks himself when you buy stuff from his website. he can be obnoxious but that's just his personality.

today on jus-ed's UQ radio show ed called omar-s to wish him a happy birthday (today btw). ed told him that people complain that he swears too much and alex/omar said 'those people who think i cuss too much can go eat a dick'

I appreciate his no-bullshit attitude.

That it's taken him this long to get recognition is criminal tho..

edit: love his interview for ISM too..

006 was a DJ tool. What people don’t understand, alot of the shit I do is DJ tools. You get some of those stupid ass mother******s probably from the suburbs or some shit like that who don’t even know what the fuck he’s talking about, been listening to dance music for like 6 months and shit, ain’t been listening to since back in the 80’s like me, know what I’m saying. You know how those mother******s is. Alot of tracks back in the 80’s, like the shit I’m listening to now (turns up car stereo bumping tracky drum machine track), you had to make shit out of it, you could ride shit, you could have one record ridin’ for like 5 minutes and people won’t even fucking know it. Like Oasis 14 is really a DJ tool. But you know what I’m sayin’, you got people like “Is that all the record do?”. Yeah bitch, that’s all the record do. Yep your lazy ass needs to do some other shit with it.

Hahah funny as hell, this was the best:

quote:
FXHE was the launching pad for numerous producers like Jus-Ed, Seth Troxler and Kyle Hall. Are you planning on putting out more unknown artists?

A lot of people are fucking babies and shit. They want you to keep putting shit out on your label. Basically what FXHE Records was designed to do for other artists was for the artist to do a record or two on the label and then go off and do his own thing. I might release some stuff from Jason Fine and Big Strick and one other person and that's it, I won't fuck with anyone else. I'm not putting out music that you put on someone else's label that sounds the same. You do shit on FXHE or you do shit on your own label. Fuck that, I'm not fucking with you if you're fucking with other people. Jus-Ed is the only one who really took advantage of that. Jus-Ed did his first song on FXHE Records, he got a name for himself, now he's doing his own thing BIG. I'm really proud of him. Kyle Hall is doing the same as well!

Now he's breaking other artists himself.

Exactly. That's what the fuck people are supposed to do. But you know, people aren't from the old school. They don't want money, they don't want to put out good music. They want to do that shit half-ass, know what I'm saying? They don't have no hustle in them, that's what it's all about. They just don't want it, so I don't think about it no more.

He's one of those people that seem cool when you see them on TV, or read about them on internet (or in papers), however if you knew (met) him in real life, you'd probably think "What an asshole!". BTW I agree with him on Ricardo...

What interests me more is his music. I think I've heard just 3 records by him, Psychotic Photosynthesis, The Further You Look - The Less You Will See (my fav) and Oasis' latest effort and I have to say that he's absolutely brilliant. One of the few dance artists these days who are doing something on their own, without blindly following the trends, and succeeding. Of course he's not completely original, but he's doing that Detroit thing in a surprisingly fresh and exciting way.

Yes.

He makes some fine music that I will continue to buy regardless of what he says. Also good to hear he's done some remixes of already released stuff for the fabric CD, that should make it a bit more intersting.

Also nice to hear he likes coming to glasgow.

How has your DJing been going?

It's been going really good. The main places I like going back to are Sub Club, and Fabric of course. I haven't been to Panoramabar in a few years, I need to go back there. Those three places are professional: No problem with the equipment, no problem with the turntables, no problem with the engineers, none of that shit.

I'm looking forward to listen his mix because I love his music a lot. However, I don't like his attitude...I bet he knows who Ricardo is
