I got played on national radio - What happens now?

Hey i found this by googling me I was at work when it was played. I learned at uni that radio one pay £58 pounds a minute for airplay.

Who gets the money?

Me? the label? or the remixer?

How is it collected?

Anyone shed any light? never made a bean from music before is this the moment lol

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.

58 pounds, nice!! didnt know that.. i had a track played there once too, which then should mean:

5 minutes * 58 pounds = 290 pounds / 2 = 145 pounds into my pocket.

I think that it depends on your publishing contract, if the publishing is split 50/50 between you and the label, and since its a remix which is most likely split between you and the remixer, you should then get something like 25% of whats being earned.

Im just guessing here though, since i have no idea what im talking about.

I dont think anyone is collecting anything though.

In Holland airplay money always goes to the creator of the original, directly. Unless you have a publisher. You need to be registered at the appropriate organizations though to be able to collect the $.

I'm rather curious though, if you hadn't googled yourself would you never have found out?
Seems like an odd way to find out, would have thought someone would have been obliged to tell you..

I know when i told the label they said good find! so no one knew even the remixer didnt know. Saying that though since then the label have done nothing else but promote the link so they are doing the right things. Plus it would be rather silly if judge jules had to phone everone who he played and inform them that he was playing them??

PRS good idea? but is the track not the property of the label and should they not register for me/them?

It's your track so it's your property. You need to register the track yourself unless the label does otherwise. Most of the time you'll need to do it yourself.

Yeah, the "label didn't know" is not likely... Generally (at least in australia) anyone who plays music (Djs, Radio, shops) has to fill out a form with a playlist on it, and this playlist gets sent to APRA, who then distribute money to the owners of the copyright. So that means that the label should have been informed. You should register with whatever orginisation does that kind of thing over there and make sure you get yours.
