My EDM site relaunched today... Critiques welcome!

www.lessthan3.com just launched the new skin today...

We try to cover most genres of EDM and offer a bunch of new music. We've got multiple gigabytes of content on the site, and just today added our events section.

The events section lets you find, sort and buy tickets for your local EDM events...

Also, click the headphones in the top left.

Look around, i trust the TA community's input any critiques you guys may have will be taken into real consideration... We plan to grow a lot from here as a site, but I'm excited enough about this to finally share it with you guys.

I post as Toothless

Well it just launched today, and it has been working for the majority of people. We ran testing on it for about 3 weeks getting bugs and stuff out, but 10 people can only run so many scenarios compared to what the rest of the internet brings you. This is partially why we're reaching out to get feedback from people right now to get all of these kinks out.

I'm sorry if you think this is spamming, is there a way to get feedback without "spamming" as you say...

I dunno, it's okay, but it's a little slow. I prefer a bit more of a minimalist approach with the styles, it's a bit harsh on the eyes with all the robot/terminal text. Also, the media player being at the bottom is fucking awful. Launch that shit in a tiny little window, separate from the website. You lose a lot of speed just with that. Also, put more artists on your psytrance page than just fucking Infected Mushroom, Jesus Fuck.

Satori should be on there, but I admit that we barely cover any psytrance, and I know that calling Infected Mushroom psytrance these days is almost insulting...

We just switched from a more minimalist approach on the site... We wanted the player in the page with a customizable playlist... before it'd play the songs from individual players in the post, this is overall a better method..

Thanks for your actual input though, I can accept you not liking it or our vision in general, but "this sucks ass" just isn't enough...

Again... appreciated, and I'll try to get some more psytrance up in the coming days

Here's a little more psytrance, it should've come up when you searched by genre

From a design standpoint, non-standard fonts are used too much, namely in the content of the dropdowns, sidebar (polls), tags, etc.

The font also does not render well in lowercase. The letterspacing on the helvetica looks horrible. As the revered typographer Frederic Goudy once said: "a man who would letterspace lower case would steal sheep".

The body text on the teasers in the search results is inconsistently typeset. You use letterspaced helvetica on the homepage (ugh) and the font replacement in the search results.

There seem to be some pixel artifacts on the fixed pos player (left side, on the bevel)

The favicon looks bad in firefox.

Fonts and borders are too chunky, but worse - inconsistent, especially on the contact page.

The player buttons do not fit in the design at all. Even the logo does not uses gradients - rather it uses solid colors.

Some of the controls are unbelievably and inexplicably large like the 'add all songs to playlist' button. Horsey.

From a conceptual design standpoint, neither the logomark or logotype seem to fit the thematic content of the site - basically prog and trance. It feels like an emo-indie-metal blog, with the heart and the black/white/red color scheme and the aggressive, KISS-like, angular logotype.

But overall, the site is just too fat.

I am a web developer/designer and using my work machine to view the site, and performance is terrible, because the site is so loaded down with all of these gizmos - font replacement, persistent player, slideshows, meebo share, AJAX content, etc.

Even though you're using AJAX to fetch content, the fetching is taking longer than a normal page load would last, so the effect is silly - this happens especially with events because you're loading in so much shit (calendar, scrollpanes, gmaps api, ajax event find form, etc)
